I applied online for a personal assistant position through Indeed with this gentleman, working 10 hours a week at a rate of $800/wk. He only communicated via text the entire time until yesterday. He said equipment would be provided including: laptop, new Iphone16, cell router/signal extender, USPS mailers, printer, ink, etc. For my first payment, he had me login into his business account to pay myself since everything was paid as 1099. I tried to do as he asked, as this was my first personal assistant position, I did not know if this was procedure or not. The transaction got denied as he said he had put a deposit on an investment property and the deposit had not cleared and wouldnt for a while. He then was adament about paying me. So he sent me checkbooks with my name, solely, on the checks with incorrect address to a bank in another State. He called me yesterday to finish the payment so I could purchase my equipment and send the rest of the money to the investment house and his voice didnt match up with the picture on his business account, older gentleman, and the guy on the phone was alot younger with heavy accent. I called the bank on the checks and this account had been closed for fraudulent reasons. I blocked his number immediately and reported it as spam. Also, several times, he used the word "movers" when I would question if he meant things would be shipped via FedEx or USPS.
