I live in the river market and have a parking permit sticker on my windshield. I parked in the same lot I do everyday, but woke to find my car missing. Turns out My car was illegally towed and when I called to confirm this, the man I spoke to was very rude and dismissive. He admitted I had a permit on my car and told me I could go get it. He refused to bring my car back and hung up on me when I asked if I would be charged. I was able to get a ride to the tow company to pick up my car. The location is very unkept and suspiciously connected to a car dealership. I knocked multiple doors with no answer. Someone finally came out of the lot with my car, yelled “sorry!” To me and left. My friend who brought me and I were very creeped out and uncomfortable. I began researching what to do if you are unlawfully towed and stumbled upon an article on fox 4 crime stoppers about this very towing company illegally towing cars in the Kansas City area and forcing cash payments to return cars. I was lucky they didn’t attempt to charge me but obviously this place has very shady business practices. I complained to my leasing office and hopefully they will end contract with this company. I was definitely lucky but a lot of people have not been. Please do what you can to investigate this group and stop them from taking advantage of people.

Parked car in lot did not see a sign in regards to towing. tow truck driver showed up almost immediately after we were parked there. Did not tell tell us how much it would cost. Only needed cash. Wasn’t telling us where the car was going. Just pointed to the car where the number was on his truck. Very very unprofessional and rude. Wouldn’t answer my questions pertaining to where the car was going or how much it would cost.

I had to figure it out my self. So i went to go find a ride and get the money because he wouldn’t take card only cash. Red flag by the way.

I called him because he wasn’t at the lot. He upped the price from 250$ on the sign to 305$ and kept tacking on fees. They even threatened to keep my car! They said they would sell it and everything in there. He lied and said he answered all my questions when (I have a witness) he really didn’t. I called him out and he got aggressive on the phone.

He was very aggressive the entire time. I called the police to help him calm down when he got there. He was civil with them around and immediately left.

My ride accidentally damaged his truck in the property of the towing company and they threatened him and asked for his insurance for “damage to property” even though there was none, so he tried to call the police again and the coworker threatened him. And said “you and your friend call the police on us we will make it hell for you” The driver of my ride just walked off. as I type, I still don’t have my car back and no longer feel physically safe on the property. Neither does my ride.
