The initial call is making you aware of a late utility bill. Then they give you a number to call to tell you of the account that you have so you can pay them and its a fake account. So please don't fall for this, I was blocked after telling them I had no account with them what so ever.

Received a hand addressed mailer (just address, no name listed) on a pre-printed cardstock with Dominion Energy a sticker was added for a contractor called Bay Electric Co., Inc. Said they've been trying to reach us with no luck and want to schedule a deactivation of our Water Heater Control Device. Asked us to call and schedule an appointment to do this at no charge.

I was contacted by someone who claimed to be from Dominion power saying that my power was about to be shut off because I was behind in my bills and that I needed to make a $250.00 deposit because the meters were being upgraded. After transferring the money, I was contacted by someone else who said the deposit was actually $375.00. When I contacted Dominion, they said that that they never ask for deposits for ugrading the meters because that's their responsibility.

I received a call on 11/14 from 804 815-2964 to call 844-342-9741, stated it was Dominion Energy. When I called the male stated by account was past due and disconnection was pending for that day. He insisted there was something wrong about a posting of funds to my account. Kept asking for my bank info. I told him I thought my auto draft was on my credit card and he kept asking what bank I deal with. While on the phone I was checking my Dominion bill and it was on my credit card. He stated that no payment had been made since August. I asked him to verify as a payment was made on the 11th and to give me his information so I could call him back. I stated this is odd that you are calling on a Saturday and not giving customers notice of disconnection earlier. I told him I used to work for Dominion (true) and that was not the normal practice. He hung up.

I received an automated telephone call from 804-221-9205 where the caller advised that my power would be disconnected in 30 minutes if I did not call their toll free number to make payment arrangements - 1-844-342-9741. I contacted Dominion Energy and they advised they would never make this type of request via phone. Dominion Energy took a report of this information.

They contacted on a phone number that had the same area code as where I live, then provided a number to contact afterward. When I called back the 844 number, it sounded legitimate, but they did not know why I was calling until I told them about the utility bill. They stated my power would be turned off in 30mins, even after stating I was paid to current. I stayed on the line a long time confusing them in hopes it would reduce their chances at getting someone who would fall for the scam (I called back over and over until I was blocked).

Hello:

I was called by someone posting to be affiliated with Dominion Energy - in fact, it was a recording that there was a bill overdue and if not paid, service would be terminated. Given that my dad recently was released from the hospital a few months back and I took over paying his bills at his house that he lives, I thought it might be connected with that... turns out, it was not and allegedly at my residence, where the person had my name and address. However, the folks I stay with generally pay the electric bill, so it was fishy to me.

They called claiming that $280.11 was due and if not paid within an hour, service would be terminated. That also was a red flag, although they said the call was being recorded / monitored, so it had some elements that made it seem legit. The number they called from was a 757-293-2834 that later when I called it from restricted was no longer in service!!! But they claimed to call at 661-582-4904 with Dominion Energy, extension 203, to get the bill paid!! I had someone call the number restricted, the same voice answered and said he was with another outfit (I recorded it, but it sounded muffled and hard to understand)... definitely a scam!!!

Am willing to discuss further, but please, try to catch this person because they almost fooled me!!

My husband's work number is not a Dom Energy contact number. He received a message informing him of a disconnection. He called me and I was sure that wasn't the case. After researching the number and my account I confirmed that was not true.

Voicemail received alleging disconnect by Dominion Energy due to non-payment. Two numbers provided 866-466-0950 and 866-841-9998. They are claiming to seek immediate payment or disconnect same day. The callers are not from Dominion Energy. Thankfully Dominion has already warned about this, so I was aware of the scam attempt going around.

RECEIVED A PHONE CALL - DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER SO FORWARDED IT TO MY VM. WHEN I LISTENED TO IT IT STATED THAT MY LIGHTS WERE DUE FOR DISCONNECT TOMORROW ( HOWEVER, I DO NOT HAVE DOMINION POWER AS MY PROVIDER, I HAVE SOUTHSIDE ELECTRIC ,THAT'S HOW I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM) I SAVED THE VM A PROOF/EVIDENCE

Received 2 calls from the same number within 40 minutes saying... due to an outstanding balance I would have a power interruption -- my power would be turned off in 30 minutes if i didn't act. I was to call 844-892-4679. I didn't, and this is not a number for Dominion plus I have no balance, so obviously a SCAM. Not the first call I've received, though a much better recording than a previous one with computer synth voice. That 844 number seems to have been used for many scams.

I got a call from these people informing me my power was going to be shut off within the next 30 minutes if I didn't immediately purchase a prepaid card and submit a payment to them.

It is an automatic message that is to inform you that your account is going to be shut off due to none payment. It then asks you to press 2 and connect to their billing department or call them back at the 757-568-5432 number. Then it thanks you for choosing dominion energy.

I know it is a fraud. My bill is paid and it sounds like most fraud automatic machines. My concern is for the lack of people working now due to covid 19 and how many people this message may effect.

I don't have much information other than a pre-recorded call and a phone number. There was a recording that stated that my Dominion Power account needed to be paid today or my electricity would be disconnected. It then asks that I "press 2" to be transferred to their billing department or return their call immediately. Dominion Energy sends past due notices by mail and email (I've been there), and they offer flexible payment plans if you get behind. It was immediately apparent that this call was not from Dominion Energy. The number shown on the caller ID, as well as referenced in the pre-recorded message was (757)881-1166. To my knowledge, Dominion Energy doesn't list that as a contact number on their website or in any of their communications. Hopefully this helps someone.

The was listed on a voicemail we received regarding a "missed security deposit". We were told to verify our account information and when told we didn't have it were put on hold. When we heard from "the general manager on the floor" we were told we had to go to "a local facility to pay in person." When we asked for a name they hung up.

Caller left robo call on my voicemail stating "welcome to Dominion Energy, this is an automated call to inform you that your account reflects a disconnection order due to payment history, please contact us at 757-516-4763 to avoid the disconnection". This is a horrible hoax being presented at a very vulnerable time for most of the country right now due to the virus epidemic.

Cell phone indicated a voicemail message but no missed called. The following voicemail message is left: “Good day welcome to dominion energy this is an automated call to inform you that your account reflects the disconnection order taking place today due to nonpayment history press two to be transferred to our billing department or please contact us at 757-241-6655 to avoid the disconnection sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you thank you for choosing Dominion energy…”
