Received a letter that I was denied a request for a pre-approved credit card for a Meijer Mastercard via Comenity Bank. I never applied for a credit card with Comenity nor Meijer.

Letter stated that I could receive a letter stating why I was denied by contacting the following reporting agency:

Experian,

www.experian.com

Further inquiries were directed to Comenity's address. No phone number or email were listed.

Additional internet research determined letter was a scam that others have fallen victim to.

Open an account or charge another on their supposed credit card which does not even have 16 digits. I did not get a card or a bill. The bill was "charged" to me in March, 2016. I paid for the order with a Canadian credit card in CDN dollars. The bank, if it exists, does not even have a phone number I can call from this country.

I have received multiple phone calls from an entity stating they are Comenity bank and telling me I have an overdue balance on my Victorias Secret credit card. I have followed up with Comenity and Victorias Secret and I have a 0 balance. These phone calls are increasing in frequency and they want me to make a payment over the phone. I yell at them and tell them not to call but they call back with a different number stating they are Comenity.

I have blocked every number on my cell but I cannot do the same on my home phone. This is harassment!!

They are calling at all times of the day and night. I need this to stop. Here is a list of the phone numbers that have called my house and cell:

My wife received an email from Comenity Bank about her statement for a Talbots Credit Card being available online. She never had a credit card through Comenity with Talbots or anywhere else. Attempts to resolve the issue led to Comenity requesting personal information to which they are not entitled. I checked our credit reports as a benign way of determining that no account had ever been open through Comenity. It appears that Comenity is trying to gather the personal information they need to claim that an account had been opened by my wife, i.e., had she given them the requested information that would have been treated as an "application". Talbots appears to be complicit in this scam. Both need to be shut down.
