This scam job posting originated on a social media group message. It was sent to me by someone I know personally, and they had no idea it was a false advertisement. The job claimed to be for a data entry associate. Some of the incentives were, starts at $30/hr, flexible work hours, work from home, full benefits. I made first contact through email. Then I was directed to communicate through phone for a texting style interview. The interviewer asked several questions about my credit card usage, banking institutions I use, past experience using payment services, and to describe myself as a reliable and honorable person who understands data privacy and code of conduct. The final red flag was when they asked for $300 to pay for equipment.
