I was contacted about a furniture purchase on Craigslist by someone who requested that I correspond via text. The scam is to ask you to meet the movers and pay in cash after the scammer sends a cashier's check for the purchase amount plus the mover's payment. The cashier's check was sent
and deposited. Then the scammer asks you to transfer the movers' payment via Zelle saying that, for security reasons they will not accept cash.
I was given this email and name to transfer the funds: [email protected] , Cassandra Gonzalez.
Because Zelle has daily transfer limits, I lost only $500, of the $1550.00 that the fraudulent cashier's check was made for.
