They stated I had to pay $92.58 within 2-3 weeks in order to have a poster for the employees working within the work establishment. They give a code and a phone number to call. Using Federal Law USC Sec. 666 (i) & 29 Sec. 2005z

Mail received 5/10/25

Message: Your business is required by Federal Law to lost a current compliant labor law poster in the workplace.

My address is residential, not for business. This is why I know it’s a scam.

Return mail request for check or money order in the amount of 92.58 for a poster in the workplace to post a current compliant labor law poster

- East Greenbush, NY, USA

I received a letter about state and Federal Labour law postings asking me to respond by a particular date. I had not opened the letters so the dates had passed. I decided to go to the address and pay the fee in person. When I arrived at the address listed which was a plaza, I could not find the location. I then checked online about the department which alerted me to a possible scam. I was so shocked because had the date. It passed I would I have mailed the check they asked for

After filing our LLC, an entity claiming to be the "Business Posting Department" sent us a letter. They said we need to buy their $92.58 "State & Federal All-In-One Labor Law Poster" or else face up to $40,000 fines under federal law. Briefly researching the topic quickly reveals that this is untrue and the business is a sham.

- Long Beach, NY, USA

Received a letter about my new business from 'BUSINESS POSTING DEPARTMENT' about a federal law requiring compliance with labor law poster in the workplace. Official looking document with a record ID, notice date, respond by date. " failure to post... can result in fines of nearly $40,000". Document processing fee: $92.58. For a 'state & federal all-in-one labor law poster'. Doesn't mention anywhere that they are NOT a government agency, but just a business providing a service that is already available for free! PS: they didn't provide a phone number or a website, but this form forces me to enter a phone number

Your business is required by Federal Law to post a current complaint labor law poster in the workplace. Failure to post required state and federal labor law notices can result in fines of nearly $40,000

- Rochester, NY, USA

Letter references Federal Law 29 USC Dec 666 (i) & Sec. 2005 and other state and federal regulations requiring the immediate posting of state and federal labor law compliance posters. It asks for a signature, email, name, and phone number as well as check or money order. It requests an imminent (less than 2 weeks) turnaround to send it. It references a fine of $40,000 as well. "Your business is required by Federal Law to post a current compliant labor law poster in the workplace" in all bold. No indication that this business is not a government entity and the coloring of "2024" at the top of the page as well as some of the other texts and boxes matches almost exactly the coloring and font and size of similar IRS and other federal forms. An unsuspecting person could easily mistake this as a required government mailing.

Their website appears to have no connection to them. The mailing address is a UPS generic box and this entity seems to target recently registered LLCs in the state. A similar entity - NY Certificate Service - shares the UPS generic address but uses a different STE/box number and requests money for other postings from the state, but similar approach to Business Posting Department.

Yet another company sent me Scam Mail pretending to act on behalf of the NYS Gov, requesting I send them money, This time for Business Posting Documents $93 and had a due date and other serious looking language. The form looks very official. Again, I got 3 of these today! This is the third one. 3 separate companies able to conduct business in the United States of America where their business is fraud. Does that mean I can just start up an LLC and send all my neighbors official word documents stating they must pay x amount by x time or else x will happen? I thought that was a crime?? So I am confused as to why they can do it but I cannot because I would be charged in the state of New York with fraud and larceny or worse. I cannot believe they have not be shut down? So I want to know how these companies are able to A) Open, B) Conduct a Fraud Business, C) Not get Shut Down. Why are these companies still able to run? Maybe if President Joe Biden and VP Harris, stopped worrying about every other country in the world, we could fix ours first, ya?

-Frustrated New Business Owner

- Emeryville, CA, USA

Scammer attempted to get me to pay $93 for a (usually free) state and federal labor law poster, and used language to manipulate me by suggesting I could be fined up to $40,000 and that I needed to respond by the end of the month with a check, enclosed and mailed to their office in order to purchase this poster.
