This is the email I received and they wouldn’t respond back to it. I downloaded the messenger app and sent a message. Mr Mark supposedly answered after a pre set answer

I didn’t give them any information but set up a time for an interview.

Emailed me in regard to receiving my resume and offered me a interview via signal messenger with a Julius Turner.

Cherene McRae wants to only do the interview by Telegram or signal messenger. I had this same thing happen with EMD Groups, John Bell wanted me to cash a check with my phone to buy my supplies for remote data entry. He said he would mail it to me. I never once talked to him it was all done by MS Teams with no video. And it got me kicked off LinkedIn because I allowed third party access to my email by LinkedIn and I don't know what they did but they also put a security alert on my email. I'm pissed and want to talk to LinkedIn and report them but they won't let me login to chat with them. What do we do about this? I'm trying to get a job now everytime I get a company interested I have to do a background check. If anyone else has this problem we should start a blog

You would think it is legit. They have a LinkedIn account and website. Someone will reach out to you by text saying the following: Hi, I'm Ms. Cherene Mcrae, I am the Talent Acquisition Specialist for Blackhorn Ventures and I'm pleased to inform you that your resume posted online has been reviewed and forwarded to the Management Team of Blackhorn Ventures for an interview are you available and willing to undergo this interview. They'll mention positions available and discuss the interviewing procedure, which is a computer/smartphone-based interview and it will be done via "Signal Messenger or Telegram. They provide you with a link to be able to connect with the interviewer.

You'll truly feel like you are in an interview. They'll say the following:

Heads up:

Instant messaging has quickly become one of the most popular forms of communication and its use in the hiring process which can offer many advantages for our business. Instant messaging interviews offer an added layer of privacy and security for me the interviewer and you the candidate. It says so much more than this and they will have you to briefly introduce yourself. They will ask you four questions. Once you answer all questions, they'll say make sure you're available online tomorrow morning at 8:30am prompt (your time).

They offered me the job and sent me an email, but it went to spam. I mentioned it to him and he said just download it anyway and print it. He wanted information immediately, which was weird to me. They even asked who I was banking with to ensure if the bank associates with their banking system. They didn't even give me an actual start date; he said I would be able to start immediately. Watch out because it will feel legit.

I am currently still in this "scam" I set up a bank account, they are waiting for my account information and didn't want to use my actual bank account for "Direct Deposit" so I spent today setting up a different bank to give them. I would like to see this through so that they are caught. I was contacted through text, then told to download signal messenger. I was offered an at home job, (this is normal for me as I do a lot of consulting work) the pay is about $27.00/ hr. Which is lower than what I usually get for at home work. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary except for my one off answers to the text message interview just testing the waters if they actually review my answers. "Mr. Omar Smith" has a LinkedIn account and is registered with the company. No one from the company on LinkedIn has answered any message I sent. They want me to fill out background check information. I am trying to stall on that as long as I can. There is some very personal info involved in that part.

I received the following text message:

"Hi, I'm Ms. Amanda Rohrer, I am the Talent Acquisition Specialist for Blackhorn Venures and I'm pleased to inform you that your resume posted online has been revieed and forwarded to the Management Team of Blackhorn Ventures for an interview. Are you available and willing to undergo this interview?"

If you accept the interview, you're directed to download the "Signal Messenger" app and send a message to "Mr. Smith".

This person who identifies themselves as "Omar Smith" goes through a seemingly legitimate interview process. Once you're "accepted", they ask for the name of your bank. That's where I stopped. The only thing they got from me was my name and cellphone number, which they already had to begin with. Unfortunately, I was dumb enough to provide my location as well.

I was contacted by text message regarding interest in my resume and was instructed to download Telegram to complete a chat interview. At the end of the internet i was advised i was hired and would need to send a form including a copy of my driver's license and personal info and they would need me to cash an expense check for necessary software.

Here is the text. Hi, I'm Ms. Amanda Rohrer, I am the Talent Acquisition Specialist for Blackhorn Ventures and I'm pleased to inform you that your resume posted on line has been reviewed and forwarded to the Management Team of Blackhorn Ventures for an interview are you available and willing to undergo this interview?

I have never applied to this company and my resume is not available online.

They contacted me, asked to download signal messenger and asked me cut and paste questions. They hired me without even a phone call and then asked me about my banking and wanted me to fill out something with my personal info. I didn’t do it and immediately started searching for scams related to this situation.

A person claiming to be Amada Rohrer from Blackhorn Ventures messages me saying my resume online was sent to the management team and if I was willing to "undergo an interview". I didn't think much about it and replied yes to it. They continued to list the positions available at the company, and asked if I had a messaging app called "Signal" or "Telegram" and gave me a specific username to look up to immediately conduct the interview. They said it would be conducted via instant messaging. I started to to realize what was happening and blocked their number.

I applied for a remote Customer Service Specialist job with a company called Forefront on a website called EdSurge. Forefront says they are based in Denver. I have applied to many, many jobs recently so when I was contacted by someone identifying herself as Katie Mulligan from a company called Blackhorn Ventures based in Denver, I got confused and thought it was a reply to my Forefront application through EdSurge. I was asked to download Signal Messenger and use it to interview with someone identifying themselves as Thomas Bianchi, 940-277-7497. The messages from both Mulligan and Bianchi seemed very cut-and-paste. I was offered a position without a video conference or any other verifiably live interaction. When I did not immediately accept, but began asking specific questions about benefits, pay schedule, how to log hours, daily work schedule, and requested a live video conversation, the Signal messages stopped. I realized it must be a scam so now I am reporting the issue. During the message exchanges, I searched online for Blackhorn, which does have some online presence. It appears as though the Gates Foundation even invested in them, but I do not know how to verify if that is true. I gave no personal information such as SSN or bank account numbers, and noticed no unusual bank activity. I can provide screenshots of all texts and Signal messages. I do not know if Forefront is connected with this, but my most recent email to the person from Forefront who emailed me after my application through EdSurge was replied to with an Out of Office message. That person identified himself as David Woodward, [email protected]. It could be coincidence that another company claiming to be based in Denver tried to scam me?
