Got online June 4th, 2022 to purchase a Maine C o o n. Found, “Jake” from Amazing Maines. Started looking more into their airline shipping. There were a few things on their website that tipped me off as possible scammers. One, no pictures of parents. Two, grammar get back to us, “soonest.” Three, there is no such thing as a pet nanny, not for $250. Four, the background in these pictures were clearly not the same households. Five, shipping premium or standard….doesn’t exist. Airline shipping is all the same. Airlines want to get your pet shipped on the most direct flight. They do not want pets changing planes or on the tarmac’s.

Former breeder of German Shepherds. Have personally shipped hundreds of puppies all over the US. With my experience, these guys posed red flags to me.

Started to do my due diligence. Found this website. You all have posted the same pictures of this kitten, “Jake.”

Would like to thank all of you for posting your experiences. Sorry, some of you have lost money. Gives true, honest breeders a bad reputation.

Reputable breeders will give you their contact information. They will talk, FaceTime or zoom with you. Will send you pictures of the parents, etc…

I believe I am going through a scam right now I found the same cat one Tysonmaincoon kitten home, but he went by the name (Roster) was selling the kitten for $650 and was extra to ship, so it was $800 all together thought it was legit because they emailed me the contract and everything, but I get the gut feeling that it isn’t legit said that when he got to the airport everything g was going good but then got an email and a call saying that I needed to send $1250.00 for insurance on the cat and course I did they told me that he would fly out last night 5/12/2022 and nothing then this morning I get another email saying that the cat needed a vaccination and a cooling crate which was another $950 so like a [censored] I did the shipping place they claim that they’ve been using for years is called Safeline flights Logistics I can’t tell if it’s legit or a scam because they sent a tracking number and everything, but I’m not sure

A guy named Preston texted me--I called him--he was very short with his answers. I asked for his address--he said he would send it--never did. This is a scam site--do not send money. His phone # is 970-963-9640

Here is his email to me:

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in our kitten, Jake.

We've attached photos of him.

Let us know if you are still interested and any questions you may have.

Contacted amazingmaines.com same pictures for jake. Asked for details; normal stuff such as vet invoice. Registry and business number and got ghosted. Apparently, they hope the buyers will not research before sending deposit.

I was looking for a Maine C o o n Cat

I found the site www.adoramainecoon.com.

I inquired and eventually received an application. I completed it and was approved.

Was to send money using Zell.
Never heard of it.

Anyway, the pictures sent to me were exactly what some have posted.

The black and gray (smoke) cat named Jake.

Was told she lived in Colorado.

If I did it right, I have added a photo.

I am so glad I decided to look into the site, and so glad I ended up here.

Saved me around 1000.00 dollars with 200.00 included for shipping.

Thanks for posting what you did.

You definitely saved me.

One big scam

I wish I would've came across this site a few hours sooner! I just inquired about the black smoke kitten Jake. Was told I could do a deposit through zelle. I thought it was fishy and didn't find anything bad about them. Or so I thought until I saw this site. I am now going to be out a few hundred dollars from sending them a deposit. Really kicking myself in the a@# right now!

Same photos with a different website, Adoracoon.com, said they were in Colorado. Name: Caroline Ogudu. Delivery right to your door for $250.00 Zelle payment accepted etc. Same scam, same photos, Payment through Zelle Caroline [email protected]. Thankfully I didn't send them any money because the previous posts saved me. Thank you all.

This scam is operating from a new website called PureBredCoons.com. Same photos same scam. I almost fell for it myself but did some digging because of simple grammatical errors in thier website made me pause. After searching thier cattery registrations on the sites they mentioned there is no record of them. Did a search in Mn for the chattery and again none exist. I did however get them to give me thier banking information for a wire transfer that I will not be sending and thier zelle information. I will post both here so anyone who has been scammed by these people can forward that to your law enforcement.

I made contact with Bennie via http://mymainecat.com/ about a kitten named Gandolf. See pics attached. They were responsive but evasive with answering very direct and reasonably questions. Also claimed to be from cook, MN. No trade name on their website but claim to be 20+ years legit. Wanted me to deposit full payment via zella, Apple Pay, or Cash App. Benny was full of great info and the package seemed too good to be true. They offered a pet nanny to transport. The cat via air (not cargo) to my home for only $250 which would in no way cover that cost. They refused to connect via phone or video chat. I asked to see the cat on video. Pics attached. I plan to work with PD to catch these SOBs and I am working with a news reporter who just did a story about online Pet scammers. These people need to go down! Will be doing reverse Google image searches as well. .

They almost got me too. I started doing a search and found theses complaints. They are now working from site purebredcoons.com. I was able to get them to give me bank account info for the wire transfer along with the zelle info. Here is the bank info I hope you nail there [censored].

I contacted this website regarding the purchase of a Maine C o o n kitten. The initial email back was signed by "Mather " After I sent him the choice of a kitten, he requested a deposit through Zelle or Apple Pay. Luckily, at that time, I could do neither and by the time I could have, I had done enough digging online to figure out it was a scam. The website looks legit, he showed me his TICA registration and dispelled my fears of it being a scam earlier in our dealings. He said that his name was Benny Mather and his wife is Julia. That's how I finally figured out the scam by googling her name, and it lead me here. The other websites are PureCoons.com and BigCoons.com. I am sure they have many more. I hope this helps someone else not be victimized by these a-holes. They should get a real job and quit stealing money from hard-working people.

I have contacted a cattery in cook, MN and also the owner's name appears to be Benny Mather... He has the same kitten photo as above, named Gandalf.(black smoke ). The website name is mymainecat.com, can you please check.

- Sunnyside, NY, USA

We reached out to Big Maine [censored] on Sunday, August 22nd through email with interest in purchasing a Maine [censored] kitten. I received an email back with a too-good-to-be-true list of what we should expect to receive with the cat as well as its medical history and luxurious travel arrangements. We were told to simply send them money through Zelle or Apple Pay and we could proceed with adopting a kitten. This person only offered the name Mather, no phone number. I did some digging to find information about the breeders/sellers themselves. All I could find was some reviews on their website referencing individuals named Mathers, Julia and Alan. I dug further and found multiple scam reports online regarding this company, their former websites also including Maine [censored] titles, and the names Mather and Julia as folks having been interacted with. We never got far enough to send them money, as I didn't believe it was real, but many people online seem to have sent them money through Zelle or Apple Pay, only to have contact cut off with them and to never receive the money back. They are listed as being in Minnesota, but others online have reported that the phone number associated with them is a Florida area code.
