Best Buy Geek Squad Reports & Reviews (12)

Got email with attachment (included) saying antivirus security subscription was renewed at $349.99 and I had 2 days to rectify if I did not want to be charged. I have never purchased said software; in fact, I use a different company’s product. I called included phone number and person answering phone talked over me and would not listen. I did not provide any PII but rather contacted my bank to inform them of the scam.

Fake Invoice from Best Buy Geek Squad totaling 413.00 for Microsoft Windows User. I don't even have a laptop and also I do have a best buy account however, not with the Geek Squad.

Third email today from someone posing as the Geek Squad. I am reporting them individually. I did not call them to see what they would say. I just knew it was a scam since I am an IT person at my company and I repair all my own PCS. I never even used the Geek Squad services before or signed up for anything. See attached image for what was in the email. Email just said Bill Detail and then this attachement.

I have never used the Geek Squad. I am an IT person and fix items myself. This is clearly a scam. I recieved three emails today about the same thing. the Geek Squad. all the same price and same phone number. See attached document. I am reporting them individually since they used three different email accounts.

Send an email wanting me to call to cancel my subscription. If I would have called they would have probably said I had a virus. I am an IT person and I would have said I don't think so! I could fix it! Just wanted to report the scam. I recieved three of these emails today each with a different email account. I will put a scam request for each one.

I had a problem with my computer running very slow. I looked up the phone number for Geek Squad by Best Buy. They are a scam.

I got an email from Best Buy Geek Squad saying that it was time to refund my subscription at $399.00. They asked for me to get into my online banking so that i could see that it was refunded. I gave them access to my computer.

I called the number in the email and was speaking with a male with an accent. Asked if I was near my computer and I said no. Informed me that I need to cancel via computer and I stated that I should not have to cancel via my computer because I did not give you permission to renew no service plan. I then asked to speak with a supervisor, he stated supervisor was present, but I needed to be in front of my computer. I refused and continued to ask to speak with supervisor because I don't need to be in front on a computer when I am telling you that I did not authorize you to renew no service plan. I finally realized something was wrong with this call and hung up the phone and contacted Best Buy today.

I received an eMail to my home eMail account on 8/14/2020 from the eMail address noted above. The eMail indicated that my subscription will be ending today, 8/14/2020, and has been auto-renewed for another 2 years at a Price of $493.99. Since I have never subscribed to this service prior, I became suspicious and called the 888 number given in the eMail. After a couple of rings, a gentleman with a foreign accent answered with a "hello". I asked who I was speaking with and he would not identify himself.

I told him I did not have a subscription with his organization and to cease contacting me. He asked if I wished to cancel my subscription and that he could do so if he could eMail me a form to process my request. I indicated that I would not download any form from him and that if I received any further correspondence from them that I would have our local police contact them. He tried to get me to press a key stroke sequence on my keyboard but I refused so he hung up. I did not pass along any personal information.

Foreigner leaves phone messages stating that my account will be debited $299 for a protection plan on a computer. States if I call and cancel they will refund my money. Message didnt state who the caller was with so I called the number and had to ask who I was speaking to and he said a geek squad from best buy employee. When I asked what computer and protection plan he was referring to. He abruptly hung up twice.

I received a phone call from someone with a foreign accent stating he was with Best Buy Geek Squad and needed to log into my computer to optimize it. He told me to login to my computer to give him access. I told him I was not home and he said he would call back. I contacted Best Buy and was told they do NOT contact people unless you have first contacted them to work on your device. Please DO NOT talk to anyone who calls you and tells you these things. Call to verify if someone calls you!
