An email was sent directly to our accounting team notifying us a past-due statement for Business Coaching and Development, including a note to reference the "relevant email correspondence." Said correspondence was a supposed email chain between the scammer and our company's president. Two PDFs were attached; one was an invoice and the second was a W9 form. We have never worked with this company and our president has never had any conversations with them about the proposed services. I also noticed a few inconsistencies that lead to my conclusion of a phishing scam. First, the email of the scammer listed within the message ([email protected]) did not match the email address of the sender ([email protected]). Second, the company name on the from the message email (Axiom Consultation) was slightly varied from the company listed on the invoice PDF (Axiom Consulting). Lastly, while the scammer's email address was shown in the headers of each "previous correspondence", the email address of our company's president was conveniently missing.

The scammer forwarded a fake email that appeared to be from my company's president, with a fake overdue invoice, asking me to pay it. It was for "Executive Business Coaching and Development + VIP membership setup and onboarding".

I received an email from the company requesting payment on an invoice with a fake imbedded email conversation with our CEO telling them to send the bill to me. We have never worked with this company or did my CEO have email conversations with this person.
