AO Solicitors Reports & Reviews (1)

- Bakersfield, CA, USA

I received an email from a "David Stilliard" with an invitation to join a "Business Proposal" through Doodle. Upon clicking the link to the invitation, there was a message he posted claiming that he is an attorney for AO Solicitors (a UK based law firm) and had a client who recently passed away and left behind a fund.

He claimed that this deceased person left behind 5 million pounds but has no surviving family members and was looking for the next of kin to pass along the money. He claimed that this person shares the same last name as the reader. Stilliard didn't disclose what last name. Looking at the one member of who signed in and joined the invitation at the time I was viewing the page, I seen that the person's last name was "Little". Stilliard claimed that he was trying to find them in order to avoid the money becoming "abandoned funds" and left an email to contact him for more information ([email protected]).

I never heard of him nor the business he said he worked for, so I decided to look up the firm to see if it was real and to see if there was any mention of a David Stilliard. I looked it up on my phone and there was a web page but it was not interactive (aosolicitorsltd.com/law-single.html#). Google displayed the business's location, there was a photo that showed a very small looking shop with AO Solicitor's sign. The detail box for them through Google had their location, number, and hours of operation but did not display a web page. Even their reviews on Google looked fishy (a person that goes by Bimbo Awot gave a 5 star review).

I've actually tried looking up this business through BBB, I'm not sure if I was reading complaints from the same business that went by AO, and the complaints were about a student loan forgiveness scam.

What is unnerving about this ordeal is that I received the email through a legitimate app (Doodle) from someone I have no idea about. If this is truly a scam then it is very unfortunate that my gmail didn't catch it and that it is through an application. I'm glad I didn't give out any personal information about myself, but I am hoping that I didn't mess up by clicking the link to the Doodle invitation.
