I was on my computer yesterday 4-11 around 10a.m. or so I was browsing the internet, I wanted to check out some music books, this gray screen popped up and it said your computer is infected with a Zeus Virus and then it gave some instructions do not turn off your computer, do not leave this site, call for technical support Microsoft 888-446- and I don't remember the rest. I called the 888 number I spoke to gentleman names Austin (and I thought it was an odd name because he has an accent). He said he was a level 5 certified networking IP expert and that the problem I had was a networking problem which means did I have any other tv's or laptops or Kindle book things that would be connected to the networking. And of course I answered him yes, I thought I was talking to a Microsoft guy. He said I had two options one was to pack up my equipment and take it to a Cisco store or they can work on it through my computer with a ShareMe. All I had to do was touch the key on this thing, which I did, and they said it would take about an hour to remove the virus and they had control of my computer. So, he switched me to a technician named Max (he also had a slight accent-certain words were kind of off). Then they gave me the name of the company, so they were going to get off phone, and I wanted to call Antigre and the number was 1-800-390-9867. Then they gave me the number what they said was customer ID and security code, and they said before we do the work that it is going cost you originally they said $299 and this was the third guy, I didn't get his name (business guy), he said $399, and I said that's not the quote I got they said $299 and he said well there's sales tax, and I told him that's alot of sales tax 25% of the cost, and he said it's $349 because there is sales tax and I don't know what else he named a few things. He said they needed my social security number, and I said no I am not going to give you my social security number. And they said well, you need to pay for this to start the work, and I said well, I don't want to give my credit card number out. They said no, no no don't give your credit card number, because if the computer is infected, whoever has infected it could get my credit card number then. So, they didn't get my credit card number. What they wanted was just the routing number from my check to put through check electronically, and I did give them that and they said we are going to take over your computer, and that they would call me when the work was done. I kind of watched some of the stuff, it was flipping through code so fast. Then he called me and asked a couple questions like what sites do I use, do I ever use buying sites, google, and then he got off the phone and more flipping on my screen. Then he called and said work is done, and he had me go on the internet which came on fine, and then he had me go to email and that worked fine. And that was it. Then I was talking to a friend half hour later and she said that's a scam, don't give him anything, and I said it's too late, everything sounded reasonable and it was a Microsoft number. Then I turned off my computer after speaking with my daughter. I wanted something in writing from them they printed out a contract, a list of tasks performed, had to print name on screen.

I went on to a site to research information about a cellular phone and the computer froze and multiple pop-ups claiming it was a bad site, computer infected. Showed Microsoft name and windows and number to call. Number was different than company number is on letter. It was an 888 number I believe. Proceeded to tell me I would have to take it to a Microsoft store to get it fixed. Said firewall not working I needed a different firewall and it would take a level 5 Microsoft certified tech to fix, he was only a 2. I granted remote access and saw Malware and CCleaner put on. Paid over internet through a site called RightSignature, received a picture of a check in which I signed and gave routing number and account number for my institution and email address. I do have a printed copy of the RightSignature letter along with two other letters from the supposed company Antigre.

I clicked on article on right side of facebook screen as was about movie star and got a screen that blocked my computer screen and a voice came on my computer that said I had a virus and that I needed to contact a Microsoft Level 5 Technician and if I didn't I could not use the computer until problem was cleared. There was a phone # of 800/390-9897 to call. I called it and was told it would cost me $498 to fix. I told them I am elderly lady and on social security and didn't have that kind of $ to spend. So they connected me to Antigre tech who said they could fix it for $199.
