There was an add selling 2 puppies so we sent a email to find out if they were available he did respond saying yes and asked questions to make sure we were a good home for the animals. There was a second email saying that he would send the dogs out to us we just had to pay the shipping he just wanted a safe home for the dogs. The shipping company s by me a link that looked very real and the phone calls seemed legit. I did transfer the $700 that we originally agreed for. I phoned a few times and got told they were waiting for confirmation from the air port then I got a call saying the dogs needed an upgrade in transport and they would give me the money back when the dogs were delivered. When I started asking questions he said he had to call me back

Two cavapoo puppies (male and female) were advertised on eclassifieds4u.com. An email address was given for a quick response. I contacted the owner of the puppies who called himself "Charley Johnston" to express my interest. He was listed as being located in the GTA. He asked me several questions, location, job, did I have a vet and previous experience with animals, knowledge about cavapoos. After a couple of emails he explained he had been relocated and was working increasing hours so he couldn't take care of the puppies. He then offered me the female puppy and asked if I could pick her up from Halifax as he had recently been relocated there. He also told me that his brother had died who was taking care of the puppies so he was struggling to take care of them. That was the first time I realised he wasnt in the GTA. He said if I couldn't come to fetch her he could arrange shipping to my doorstep (which I found strange). Then he asked for my address and phone number to register her to the shipping company which I gave. Soon after I received a call and emails from what was clearly a fake shipping company. The voice on the end of the phone was that of a male, most likely from Cameroon or an African country which immediately was a red flag for me. I was being asked to go immediately to shoppers and do the transfer. Since this was at 7pm it raised my suspicions further and then I googled puppy scams online and quickly realised what was happening. I emailed "Charlie" to inform him that I suspected this was a scam and that I didnt wish to proceed any further and was uncomfortable to send money to what was most likely a fake shipping company. I recieved an email back asking me what the problem was as he had used the company twice before without any issues. I explained that if he wished to proceed and ship me a genuine puppy then he would have to pay the shipping up front and that I would reimburse him once the puppy arrived. I have yet to receive any response to this email.

I did call the number given on the shipping website that was answered by an African sounding male (he didnt have great English and he had a thick accent so it was a struggle to understand him). He lead me to believe that they had drop of centers for animals both in Toronto and Halifax, but when I questioned him in more detail the line went dead. I googled this and I could find no evidence of any "drop off" centers. What also did not add up was that the email from the shipping company was a gmail address and that the emails I was sent informing me how to make the money transfer were written in poor English, completely unprofessional and there were spelling mistakes everywhere. In the email I was given the following instructions:

ONCE MORE ACCEPT GREETINGS FROM THE AF SHIPPING INTERNATIONAL AGENCY.

OUR SERVICE WISH TO INFORM YOU THAT THE PAYMENT OF THE $450 FOR THE DELIVERY TICKET OF YOUR PUPPY IS TO BE CARRIED OUT TO US.YOU ARE REQUESTED TO MAKE THE PAYMENT USING MONEYGRAM TRANSFER BECAUSE WE HAVE THEIR UNITS HERE DESIGN FOR SUCH TRANSACTIONS.

HOW TO MAKE PAYMENT USING MONEYGRAM. BELOW ARE ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION NEEDED TO MAKE PAYMENT THROUGH MONEYGRAM. JUST GET A PEN AND A PAPER AND COPY THE INFORMATION EXACTLY AS YOU SEE, GO TO NEAREST MONEYGRAM POST TO YOUR LOCATION AND MAKE THE PAYMENT VIA MONEYGRAM OK.

Direction of payment.

( 1 ) Just get a pen and a paper

( 2 ) Copy our payment details exactly as you see

( 3) Go to any Canada Post nearest to your location

( 4 ) Tell them you want to make a transfer Via MoneyGram

( 5 ) They will give you a money transfer senders form

( 6 ) You will have to fill in the form using our payment details

( 7 ) You will also have to fill in your own details as the sender of the money

( 8 ) When you are through with the filling of the form, pass it to the cashier in charge and the money will be transferred. Once the money is transferred, he/she will give you a receipt.

( 9 ) You will have to email us with the details on the receipt.

Accept Greetings From The General Staffs Of The AF Shipping International Agency, We are writing to you in regards of your Female Cavapoo Puppy (Sandy), that has just been registered at our agency today by Mr. Charley Johnson here at the AF Shipping International Agency to be transported to your location today xxxxxx.So you are expected to make the payment of ($450) as soon as possible, so that we can have enough time, to process the papers of your puppy and pay the transport ticket of your puppy at our aviation control department.Right now this puppy is presently base at our agency pending payment of transport ticket, and we have already registered the puppy here at our agency, you can open our Website {https://afshippingagency.com/track-trace/} and track your parcel using the tracking number below.

Since I got the email less than half an hour after the puppy was registered with the shipping company and the guy who called was telling me the puppy was with them at the agency ready to be shipped, it seemed impossible that within half an hr the owned would have the opportunity to drop off the puppy and that the puppy would have been shipped out over night which is what they were essentially wanting me to believe.

I received 3 images of the puppy and have attached the first one.
