I booked a rental car online (I do not remember the site) on Dec 27th and then I called to check and see if I had a reservation with Budget rental car at the Columbus OH airport. They confirmed that I did have a reservation for Jan 6th, 2025. My Discover card was charged $1.00 on Dec 27th. Today Jan 3rd I saw a charge for 503.09 for Globetrotter post to my Discover card. I called Discover and asked about the pending charge to find out more information. They could not tell me who Globetrotter was, so I searched and located Globetrotter Management and called customer service and spoke to Chuck. He was very helpful and said that there was no reservation for me that he saw for a rental car for that date. He gave me the number for Budget rental car at the Columbus OH airport and said he was going to let his supervisor know about this as well. I called the Budget rental car at the airport, and they said that my reservation was cancelled on Jan 1st, 2025. Then he told me the reservation was made to a third party called Compass Voyage. I never heard of them, nor did I authorize any transaction with them online of otherwise. I then called Discover card and reported it and later found out that someone had opened an Amazon account that showed up on my card. My Discover card account has now been closed, and I will have to call back in 5-10 days to dispute the charges on my account for the rental car. This is the second time in the past 3 weeks that I have had to close my account at Discover due to fraud. I'm so sick of scammers and I wish we had a way to put an end to this robbery.
