I responded on April 18 after reading through their website, which was very charming and well-built, aside from a few broken links. The site claims the company was founded in 2008 and has a main headquarters in Ottowa.
I then received a separate email (not a reply to my response - a separate email chain) on April 23, where Maria restates what was already sent in the previous email, on top of some contradictory information on their site. Maria says the company was founded in 2015 and is a “New York based U.S.-owned IT Company”.
Maria then states that the company is “incorporated under federal jurisdiction and authorized to operate and provide services to business across United States”, yet the examples jobs they’ve completed are for clients in China and Australia. Maria continues with “Our main focus is on computer maintenance and managed IT services, and we actively participate in electronic tendering services offered by the United States federal government”, despite their website indicating they are a software development company, not an IT managed service provider.
A vague job description is provided, indicating this is mostly a sales position rather than software support or managed IT support, and Maria stated that paychecks will be deposited directly into my bank account on a weekly basis, so were it not for catching this issue now, they would’ve asked for my banking info eventually.
The domain “Intunesoftware.org” for their website was registered at the beginning of this month (April 2024), and there is no information on the company anywhere other than their website; they even have links to their social media on their site, but it just sends you to the homepage of that social media site rather than a specific page for them.

I prefer that my name not be used in this report due to the embarrassment. However, I hope that it might help other potential victims as this person is most likely still actively scamming other victims. On Dec 05, 2023 I received a phone call from Bank of America risk protection unit. The representative that I spoke with was Doreen Baker. She asked if I was aware of two payments made to my credit cards on 9 Oct 2023. She then informed me that the payments had been returned and that they suspected that I was the victim of fraud. Over the course of the next few minutes, I explained to her that I was offered a job with what I believed to be a company called E Commerce. The person who claimed to represent the company was named Ande Baker. She said my resume had been selected and they wanted to offer me a job when we spoke on the phone around the end of September 2023. Over the course of the next few weeks we began several correspondences through emails. The initial conversation was through phone calls and progressed to all emails. On Sep 25, 2023 I was offered a base salary of $72,000 for part time and $108,000 as a full time employee. On 26 Sep 2023, she asked that I provide basic information such as phone number and consent to a background screening. I found it suspicious that she already knew a lot of detailed information about me, such as exactly how much money I owed on each of my credit cards, so I hoped it might be a government agency hiring me. I did not provide anything to her, she already had my personally identifiable information. On 27 Sep 2023, I agreed to the background screening as this is something that is regularly required for the type of jobs I have been applying for since retiring from the military in May 2023. Ande Baker emailed me several documents that included a website and history of the company to convince me that it was a legitimate offer. After researching the company, I accepted the position they offered and began what was supposed to be a two-week trial period before being offered a full-time position. Ande Baker said that the company E-Commerce would provide company funds upfront initially to get me started and progress to a corporate card after the two-week trial period. The company headquarters was supposedly based out of NY at the registered address: 130 Broadway Lawrence, NY 11559. Then below that address provided was an additional address that said current address, 42 W 39th St, New York, Ny 10018. On 3 Oct 2023, Ande Baker provided the following information: Company Number 4103750, Assigned EIN, Legal Name: E Commerce Vendors, Incorporation Date 7 June 2011, Company Type Domestic Business Corporation. On 30 Sep Ande Baker emailed several documents which included a job offer with instructional reading material about company history, 2 week time job duties, purchase order items, pay roll forms, and other information regarding how to properly store packages and fill out administrative paperwork to mail packages. On 3 Oct I was given a routing number and line of accounting to pay off credit cards to make purchases for the company. Over the course of several weeks two of the credit cards used under my name were paid off and cleared the account with no problem. As a result, I followed the instructions and began to trust what I hoped to be the beginning of a new career as a Procurement Specialist with E Commerce. After working the trial period for Ande Baker, I began to inquire about receiving my first paycheck and Ande Baker said that it would be mailed to home address. Ande Baker sent a certified check in the mail for $46,000.00 and wanted the proceeds sent to a third party. Upon receiving the check on Saturday 28 Oct, I noticed that I was from what looked to be a car dealership in Tampa Florida. I emailed Ande Baker back and informed them that they must have mistakenly added too many zeros to the check. Ande Baker then informed me that it was not a mistake and suggested that I could keep some of the money. On 30 Sep I informed Ande Baker that I would not cash the check and that a separate method of payment was needed for the work I had already completed. Ande Baker, insisted that I keep her informed about the check in my possession, and inquired about more purchases being completed. On 2 November 2023, I emailed Ande informing her that I could no longer work for the company without proof that they were a legitimate organization. Ande Baker replied, the company was legitimate and that it was my choice to seek employment elsewhere if I wanted. I have not communicated with or been contacted Ande Baker since 2 November 2023. I have began the process of contacting all of the credit bureaus to freeze my credit as a precaution while working with Bank of America to resolve the matter at hand as my credit cards and accounts have been closed. I have since had to file bankruptcy losing over twenty years of relationships and established credit history. I filed a report with the local police office at my current home of residence and the investigation is still open. I hope this will help other potential victims as I believe that the scam is still being used on other people.
