Scammer tried calling me 3 times, stating I was chosen for some "government grant" only given out to a few people each year. The only options offered to "receive" this grant were typical scammer choices. Wasted some of their time, but somehow they knew my home address

- Bronx, NY, USA

A person by the name of jonas Lee called sisters phone. He offered her a student grant for 9 000 dollars. He gave her a grant activation code#SA139 and a phone number to get it activated. The number was 202 642 5773. When she called this number they did not answer. She called three times within 10 min interval before they returned her call. Finally they called back stating that she had to first purchase an e bay card in order to recieve the 9 000 dollars. They said whatever the ebay card cost they would reimburse her on top of the 9000 dollars. Also jonas lee was rushing my sister to purchase the card by a certain time because their bank would close shortly. I advised my sister to call

to investigate before making any purchase. We asked for the the adress, the name of the company and said we will call back. However after I decided to speak to them and they told me that my sister will have to pay 200 dollars for this ebay card. We decided not to go forth with his granyt because it was sketchy. After a woman called me and asked me if we wanted a grant. I said to her we got a call from jonas lee already about a grant. Didn't jonas tell you about our call. She hung the up phone on us.

I've been getting calls from the US Federal Reserve Grant Department.Today I answered. I spoke to man who said I was eligible to receive a grant for $9400 because the Bank of New York does randomly selected grants. He told me I had not applied for the grant, I was just selected because of the economy. I was to call back 951-643-2413. I did and a woman answered, she sounded asleep. I could tell somebody was telling her what to say. She told me to go to Walmart and buy a $250 registration card. She said if I go to Walmart and purchase a $250 registration card she would reimburse me for it when she released the grant. She said she would walk me through it. She said after I do all that, she would release $9650, the $9400 grant plus the cost of the registration card. She gave me a tracking number of TA1027. They had foreign accents. They asked if I was married. They asked if I lived alone. She told me to keep this private. I said I wanted to call ScamPulse.com and she replied "you really need to go to Walmart and do this".

THE SCAMMER BY THE NAME OF JACK IS CONTACTING INDIVIDUALS STATING THAT THEY ARE GIVING AWAY FREE GRANT MONEY THAT THE FEDERAL GRANT DEPT IS GIVING AWAY TO ANYONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD OR FILED BANKRUPTCY WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS.

- Cleveland, OH, USA

I received a phone call claiming to be from a government agency (United States Federal Grant Department under the Human and Health Services) and said that I rec'd a grant for 12,900 but I had to pay $200 for registration $600 for wiring and $700 for the NOC certificate with google play cards.

The first person I talked to was Henry and he called from 2028541493

2027809623 was supposed to be the department of Treasury that I call with the google play cards, I spoke to a guy named Austin. He said Henry had told him to transfer my grant.

I was contacted through Facebook messenger by someone who I thought was a Facebook friend that I've known for years asking me if I heard of the US Federal Government Grant Program. I responded no and asked for more information about it which was provided to me along with the name of the person that he was referred to that helped him get money through this program. I reached out to this person to inquire about the program and it went from there with applying, sending money, purchasing Amazon cards, to having 4k deposited into my account, which I did give permission to do,to having it withdrawn from my account 6 days later, which I did not give permission to do, when I refused to do the last transaction of withdrawing 3k. This took my account into the negative balance and when my payroll check was direct deposited it took my whole check due to the amount of the credit balance. The bank also kept charging NSF fees to the account. This is currently under investigation with the bank with the claims department.

The first man said that I qualified for a once time only federal grant from the US government because I paid my taxes and bills on time and had never filed for bankruptcy. He gave me a grant ID number and a phone number to another person to verify and make sure that I was able to get my $9200 without any problems from my nearest Walmart, Walgreens, or Money Gram or Western Union store. I called that number and the lady, Nora, said that I would have to call her back as soon as I got to the store so she could walk me through the process to get the right card and my money, after I paid a refundable $250 fee for the card. I called my local Walmart and asked if they had heard of such card and the lady said no, they don't have any such thing.

I received a phone call on my cell, from "Olivia" of the U. S. Federal Grants Department. She told me I had been awarded a Federal Grant of $*** that would not have to be paid back. She had an accent and asked if I wondered why I won the grant. She told me it was because I paid my bills and taxes on time and no trouble with the law. In other words, I've been a good citizen? She then gave me a Confirmation Code and phone number to call, so I could begin the process of receiving the grant money. I could get it today, if I just call the number when we hung up and give them the code she gave me. I called the number and Michael Adams (with an accent) answered the phone. He asked for the code, then my name. He asked if I had access to stores like Family Dollar, Walmart, Target, etc. where I could buy gift cards. I said I had to buy a Google Play gift card for $***, in order to receive the money. Then he'll give me a Tracking #, I take the card to a Western Union or Money Gram, give them the Tracking # and they will give me the $*** in cash. He wanted me to stay on the phone with him through the whole process. I told him I had trouble with my phone and could not stay on with him.

I have received 2 calls from these people - sounded like same woman. First I told them to send the money to my Pastor and they said if I didn't want the money that was okay and they hung up on me. Today they called again and I gave them any information they wanted by telling them things I made up so I could try to get their information to report them. I asked if they minded if I called the US Government or the IRS to make sure this was not a scam and they said okay and then I told them I did not want the money because I did not work for it and if I had not worked for it I did not deserve it and they should give it to widows and orphans, and sometime during this they hung up on me again.

- Franklin, IN, USA

I got a call on 8.9 saying I had won a $9,000 grant. I was then told I had to Western Union them $200.00 for fees. I was afraid it might be a scam so I called the FTC who verified it was.

- Fonda, NY, USA

They have called 13 times at one number! I blocked that number and they continued to call me from another number 1-215-686-8025 and harrase me even more! They do not speak English very well either. The one call I decided to mess with them and answer as a joke business. They were totally distracted from their job because of the topic of the fake business I used. Needless to say they are defiantly scammers! One even swore at me too.

- Hayward, CA, USA

Received a call from an very heavily accented Indian named Jackson Dafder or Bafder. Even after asking him to spell his last name his accent was too hard to understand clearly. Supposedly he works at the US Dept. of Federal Grants and I was chosen to receive a free grant for $9000.00 for retal costs. All I needed to do was call 315-332-1364 and provide my grant ID #(which he proceeded to provide me with) to speak with an Actual Federal Grant agent, and not just an associate like he was (WHAT??!!?) at the Department HQ. I would need to provide my ID # to enable me to receive instructions on how to obtain the funds rewarded to me. Needless to say I didn't bother calling as alarm bells we already going iff in my head. Just wanted to report this to prevent any others have a scam attempt happen to them too..

- Richfield, UT, USA

I received a call saying because I have a clean record I was chosen to receive 9200 free grant all I had to do was call the financial department with my approval # the pay 200 upfront then I will receive 9200 plus 200 reimbursement thru Western Union the operator said his name was H*** *** and gave me this as his company ID ***

- Atkinson, NE, USA

Alice from the US Federal Grant Department called me on January 16th, 2018. She left me a voicemail stating that she was "calling regarding my pending file at their office, and that this would be the last time they would contact me before they cancelled my grant automatically." I had just bought a home and had received a grant through our state, so I was worried that it was the same thing. After talking to my grant officer through the company we went through, she assured me that this was only a scam. I just want others to be aware!

- Seattle, WA, USA

Received call informing me that I have been selected to receive a grant of 9,000 from the US federal grant that would never have to be paid back. I said No and asked they do not call me again. I did not proceed further into the call to see if they were asking for further information.

- Lakeland, GA, USA

Got a call from the US Federal Grant Department in Washington DC and I was one of 1500 people who paid their bills on time and had no police record selected to receive a federal grant in the amount of $9000. All I had to do was go to Walmart or Walgreens and get a card in the amount of $250 and give them the numbers and I would receive my $9000 plus the $250.

I have received numerous calls on my cell phone over the last 6 months from people with heavy foreign accents claiming to be with the US Federal Grant Department. When questioned some have just hung up, one got quiet angry and insistent that the government wanted to give me money! The government will NEVER CALL US TO GIVE US MONEY!! NOT happening ever. If you want/need a grant from our government, you better believe YOU are the one that has to seek it out and jump through a bunch of hoops. Money is never free...there's no such thing as a free lunch people! I hope no one really falls for this scam.
