USTA United States Technical Association Reports & Reviews (46)

They said a scammer had billed me for $199. They were to return it to my account. When they had me do this the amount turned into $1999. They wanted me to go to Walmart for a gift card to return the difference to them of $1800 I refused since I did not see the $1999 in my account. They have hijacked my computer and my PayPal account.

I received an e-mail confirmation from USTA stating that the membership had been renewed in the amount of $217.00. The e-mail comes from an individual "Rob Fimbres." There was a phone number on the invoice so I called and this individual who I could not understand, stated this was for security protection on my computer. I stated I already have security protection and it is not with them. I then stated I wanted to cancel this order and they stated they would send me an e-mail and I just need to download the site in order to cancel. I stated I was not going to download anything from this company. I asked for a cancellation number and they refused to give me one and again stated they would send me an e-mail. I stated I was not giving them squat, that I was turning them in to the BBB. I did call our bank and they stated that if I would have downloaded their information, I most likely would have a charge on my credit card. The e-mail came from "Rob Fimbres" email: [email protected]

Received an e-mail stating that I had purchased a protection plan and that this was my invoice e-mail. Stated that I had 24 hours to cancel and to call them. Called just to hear the name of the company as the logo was fake. No charges on any cards.

I received this email message on June 7, 2021 from Nita Mize ([email protected]).
This is clearly a scam. I called the number listed in the email to find out what this was about and the person on the line directed me to go to a website and download a product. Of course I didn't. Total scam.

May 4th I received an e-mail from a Jean Lawrence using a random gmail account with what appeared to be a purchase of something for 219 +5 sales tax and +10 for delivery

The email provided a physical store address at
4160 The Strand Columbus oh 43219

Which turned out to be the Louis Vuitton Columbus Easton Town Center

Found their call back numbers and found out they were closed for certain Middle Eastern holidays.

Seems that finally after a month of harassing their call centers they finally turned off all of their numbers

Received an email from Deborah Williams claiming my order is confirmed. I have never heard of this company before, and I sure would never have ordered $220 virus protection.

This email claimed I had both just ordered, and simultaneously needed to renew my subscription, with an additional $10 fee for handling and delivery (its a fake digital product, what would shipping be needed for?)

The woman I spoke to on the phone was extremely unaware of what the "product" was, claiming they sold "computer protection". Any legitimate malware or virus protection service would tell you exactly what their services provide and what systems they use.

Now, this could be argued this is standard fare, possibly a new worker that isn't up on the company's information, but the tell tale sign I knew this was a scam and hopefully protect future targets from these [censored]-Bags is this...

I was on my work computer. Of course we have our own protection software, but I let the agent talk me through what I needed to do to "cancel my subscription"

She first asked to look at the key to the right of my ctrl key, (windows key as I'm on PC) then requested I hit that and the R key. For anyone not basically versed in hotkeys, this brings up the Run.exe window, which essentially bypasses the need for shortcuts and icons. Next, she wanted me to type in cmd, and that was the final sign. There is absolutely no reason you should have to go into your computer's command window to remove a subscription based malware protection product. She said its to generate a cancellation code, which.. sure maybe you have such high security to remove this software that there's a deeply embedded protection program that must generate a code that you give to the service providers so that they can cancel your subcription and then you can install it.. but doesn't that sound like a lot of hoops to go through?

Better yet, wouldn't I remember setting something like that up, or atleast would have read, if I had purchased this fake product that you would need to generate a cancellation code at the time of cancellation from within your computer's fundamental system command?

Don't be fooled by the email. $200 looks like a lot of money and I understand why you wouldn't want that charged, but this is a scam, and when I told the woman (who absolutely sounded like your stereotypical call-center-farm worker) that I looked them up online and it was clearly a scam, she made absolutely no effort to change my mind. She couldn't provide me with any legitimate information as to when I began this subscription, or an original order number. She said "ok" and hung up on me.

Do. Not. Fall. For. This.

Plus, USTA is the United States Tennis Association... you would think a legitimate company would show up on the front page of google atleast once...

Received email from Robert Crutchfield telling me thanks for subscribing for $179.00 plus tax and delivery. I DID NOT ORDER from them. The supposed order confirmation # is UT7866A and was received by me on June 2, 2021, and I have 24 hours from the transaction date to dispute. I received this on June 2, 2021.

I received an email today (6/02/21), stating that the United States Technical Association is automatically renewing my membership and processing charge on the same day. I have never heard of this association and never belonged to this association. The email says I do not have to do anything for this process, and also mentions that I should call them if I do not want to continue this membership.

I received an email from Michael Pearcy (ostensibly) regarding something called USTA Protection Plan. The email included a realistic looking invoice containing Transaction ID, Reference No., and Order ID information. All bogus. I called the number included in the email and spoke to someone who claimed that, when I purchased my computer, the USTA "product" activated and I was getting "free protection" from virii and malware, but as of today, 1 June 2021, I would have to pay $197.00 plus $15.00 S&H, for a product that was purportedly already on my system. I did not ask why there would be shipping and handling for something I already had.
The person with whom I spoke was unable to identify the app/agent that was included on my PC when I purchased it, nor was he able to tell me when I purchased it or who loaded the software onto the PC. My persistent questions evidently upset him because he hung up.

I got a email saying I was charged 217.00 for their service it would show up on my statement. I did not order anything. I tried finding their web site, I could not. I called the number on the email. I could barely understand him, heavy Indian accent. I said I did not order anything. They said I had their service for the last two years but I have no record of it. He wanted me to go to Chrome and cancel my order so I would not be charged. I asked him why he could not cancel it from his end. He said he could not. He was very evasive as to why he could not do it. He wanted me to press the Windows Key + R and wanted me to type in a web site www.898tv. told would not do this. He said I was taking a long time and asking a lot of questions. We started to argue and I hung up.

I got a email saying I was charged 212.00 for their service it would show up on my statement. I haven't order nothing so i call the number on the email. Of course i couldn't understand him talking a foriegner.I told him I hadn't order nothing what was this about he said I had McAfee on my account they was renewing it I said I don't have that.I told him I better not be charged nothing I didn't even know what he was talking about .He said I needed to go out of my email and go to chrome and cancel my order and not be charged I told him I wasn't doing that because I didn't order anything. He insisted on that I keep telling him no.i ask him what my credit card no was he said I don't have that I said you said you charged me what is it he couldn't answer insisted to cancel I told him this is a scam he said no it's not I said you are trying to scam he got mad and hung up because I wouldn't do what he wanted to get information. I wish people like this get a REAL job quit trying to take people money. They are sorry in my book.

Total scam outfit. USTA sent me an email stating that I owed them $234 for unspecified merchandise. I called them and they stated that they were partnered with MacAfee and McAfee security software had been installed on my pc and payment was do. Called McAfee and McAfee told me that I do not have an account or relationship with USTA and that McAfee had no software on my computer. My computer manufacturer does not sell or install McAfee software either. Clearly USTA is a fraud company. I filed a complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commission and recommend that other victims of their emails do as well. I asked USTA what computer brand and model of my pc that their supposed software was installed on and they hung up. Do not give these fraudsters any information and report them to federal authorities if possible.

Thank you for your order for an annual automatic renewal of 216.00 from USTA (United State Technical Association). I received an email with a reference number regarding my purchase.

Items purchased has 24 hours to cancel and you get the run around. They are trying to obtain bank information.

I received an email indicating that $212.00 was debited from my account for a renewal of a service I never heard of. When I called for verification, he wanted me to give him my information to get into my computer. If this was a renewal, he should have had my info. When he was confronted, he quickly hung up the phone.
