Synchrony Bank Reports & Reviews (16)

- Cleveland, OH, USA • Nov 20, 2023

I was trying to get a hold of Synchrony Bank, I dialed (855) 820-4000 and when I called a recording came on offering a free $100 Walmart gift card. I was transferred to a live rep and was asked to provide my bank or credit card information. I provided my account information because I thought I was speaking with someone at Synchrony bank. I realized I misdialed by one number and had been scammed.

This number has been calling for a year or more every day and even if I block it, leaves the same message to fill my voicemail. I called the number and they could not give me any info as to why they are calling unless I gave them personal info, which I did not. I called the legitimate Synchrony Bank and they said they could not see any reason they would have a need to contact me. I am on the “Do Not Call” list. I do not believe this is a legitimate company. They can’t tell me why they are calling and don’t leave any information in the message.

Like others reporting I received a letter in the mail without a address on the envelope. The letter was on plain paper with Synchrony Bank, PO Box 965002, Orlando, FL 32896-5002 at the top. It referenced a long ref. no. and indicated the letter was in response to your request to open a PayPal Credit account. Our records show that you requested to open an account on 01/23/2022. It stated we regret that we are unable to approve your request at this time for the following reason: We were unable to verify your identity. You do not need to respond to this letter. If, however, you have any questions about this service please contact PayPal Credit at the above address. If you applied multiple times for a PayPal Credit Account you will receive a separate letter for each application that was declined, even if you were subsequently approved. Thank you Sincerely, Synchrony Bank, The PayPal Credit account is issued by Synchrony Bank.

There were no names or signatures or telephone numbers as a contact. The bottom recites FEDERAL EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT NOTICE and gives wording and information regarding Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection 1700 G Street NW, Washington DC 20006. It also state Ohio laws and the Ohio Civil rights Commission administers compliance with this law.

I was contacted by mail correspondence stating requested to open a PayPal Credit account on 1-20-22. They expressed regrets they were unable to approve my request because they were unable to Verify my identity. It was stated I didnt need respond to the letter but if I had questions I should contact PayPal Credit at the above listed address. It also stated if I applied multiple times for a PayPal Credit account, I will receive a separate letter for each application that was declined, even if I was subsequently approved.

The address used is older than 5yrs since I had the address on their correspondence. Is my credit being affected? The letter had no company insignia or phone number listed to contact them. Am I entitled to ask for copies of what they say I applied for because there should be a signature to inspect with the application for the PayPal Credit account. This is illegal correct. Is the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection a real entity i should contact. I plan to write to the address above and ask for copies of application but I'm not really expecting an answer because this smells of fraud. Will you contact me to let me know how this has been handled and the recourse to a peace of mind.

I received a letter from Synchrony Bank. Their address is P.O. Box 965002 Orlando FL 32896-5002. I don't understand this letter. I do not have an account with Synchrony Bank. The letter indicates someone is trying to open a PayPal account. There is no phone number on the letter. I don't know if it is legitimate. The letter states our records show you wanted to open a PayPal Account. We are unable to verify your identity. There is a reference number on the letter. 2BCBZRYDXYC9N

I received a mailing from Synchrony Bank. I have a credit card with them. The letter indicated they are unable to approve my request to open a PayPal credit account. I never applied for a PayPal Account. Someone was trying to open this in my name. They told me to contact the ScamPulse.com and report this. Also contacting the credit bureau.

Contacted me via my wife email telling us we have an CC account with their car care division. When calling to find out if this is real the automated greeting asks for your social security number.

My husband received 2 credit cards in the mail that he had not applied for. He immediately cut them up. A week later we received a letter in the mail from Synchrony Bank saying to call them as soon as possible and to use a one time passcode to verify that it was my husband. This time my husband called the bank only to learn that someone was using that account and had been charging large amount. They have a $0 Fraud liability and would not tell us how much was charged, but we pulled up my husbands credit report and learned that the bank had opened an account for $20,000 line of credit and $18,000 had been charged.

Everyone needs to know that if you receive an unsolicited CC call the bank immediately. Unauthorized charges hurt the bank. We have changed all our passwords to our bank accounts and put a freeze on our credit bureau account.

This Synchrony Bank has called me at least twice - the last time at 11:23 p.m. on October 2, 2018 and leaves a message that says "get a paper and pen to write down this code". And then repeats it several times. Today, Oct. 4th, I called the 800-347-4934 and asked about their calls. I told them that I don't have a CitiCard and they asked if I had a Best Buy, Home Depot or Sears card. I told him that i have a Sears card and he assured me that was why they were calling. He wanted the credit card number and when I won't give it to him, he asked for my social security number and I also WOULD NOT give it to him and hung up. I then called Sears with the number on the back of my Sears card, and they said that they would make a note of my call and they were glad that I didn't give them any information. I assume that it was a scam.

I cannot obtain credit because the bank is saying I am deceased. Every credit card is denied.

To whom this may concern.I’m sending a copy of this because not sure exactly how to fill out the top information. This is a Scam through someone else but it’s not actually PayPal.Their just using them. I don’t have a account with them anymore. I definitely don’t owe them anything I’ve already talked to someone from PayPal about this.Someone has got my account trying to scam money from me. I hope you can find out who this might be.I’ve received other letters like this one. Thanks

On my credit report, TJ Maxx was reported. I don't have that account. Yesterday, a post card came regarding a PC Richard account, which I have never heard of. It is a "promotional" offer for financing at retailers. Both are Synchrony bank credit cards. No contact information except "Call the number on the back of your card."

Received a phone call from this number claiming to be from PayPal synchrony bank. They asked repeatedly to confirm my name. The woman began almost every sentence with yes, and then kept wanting me to confirm information. She claimed I was past due on an account and that she could make a payment over the phone. I said I only pay online. She said ok and wanted me to confirm that we spoke . She said she needed my permission to note on my account that we spoke. I finally hung up. I never said yes or ok but my gut tells me it seemed off and maybe she was trying to record me saying yes.

got notice of change of address for a credit card I don't have and when I call custumer service number first thing they want is your social security number. hopefully I don't have a card out there being used in my name.

Called multiple times and requested me to enter my account or SSN. I don't have an account with Walmart. When I spoke to a representative she immediately asked for my social security number. I told her I want to know who she's calling for and she asked for my phone number. She then stated "do you know anyone by the name of " and then said something I couldn't understand. I said nothing in response. So this number is incorrect for unintelligible name again, to which she was expecting me to say yes, but I hung up instead.

text message notifying me a payment has or had not been received without me having made any recent purchases that would require payment
