On the 12th of Oct. my computer froze with a message saying that I needed to call the number on the screen. a woman answered and said her name was Pam, and that my computer had a virus, and that their tech's could fix it. This fix would cost around 6 to 700 dollars. I had to give them complete acess to my computer. They were in my system for about an hour. When Pam came back on the phone she said it was worse than they thought, and it would cost me 2400 dollars to fix it. they wanted a check mailed to them over night with a tracking num. Like an [censored], I did. Later that afternoon I called my bank, and put a stop payment on the check. I have had more than a couple of calls, wanting me to send them another check.

My mother fell for this scam. She was browsing the internet when a pop-up appeared on the computer screen saying her computer was under attack and she needed to call the number for help. She said it looked like a legitimate Microsoft message.

She called them, they remote accessed her computer to "fix" the problem and install an "internet firewall". She was charged $1,398.00 for a 10 year contract. They sent a service contract to her email that listed the fee as a charge for "VPN Service". She signed digitally after giving out her SS#, bank checking account number and routing number, address, phone number and date of birth.

We called them that night to check it out and they answered the phone number with the business name. We said we wanted to cancel the service and they said they were going to do that in the morning. They seemed very accommodating and reassuring.

The next morning (after we alerted her to the scam and locked down her accounts) they called again. She told them her son said they were a scam, they had no to answer to that. They called three times that day and said they needed to remote access her computer again, couldn't she please turn it on for them. She denied access. She said how nice they were every time they called.

Fortunately no money was lost as everything was shut down immediately and her bank accounts have been closed and changed.

Don't fall for these "nice" people that want to "help" you! Their goal is to drain your money.

Scammer contacted me on my computer to alert me about problems with my computer. They supposedly fixed the computer and charged me $367.55. I sent them the money. I received a call yesterday saying I needed to send them another $99 or else my GPS will no longer work. I called the ScamPulse.com and was informed this is a scam.
