Hello, I was just contacted today by a woman on Rover saying she was the niece of Hannah and Daniel Wentworth, instead her name was set as Lori. The account became inactive soon after but “Hannah” did respond saying her and her husband needed me to petsit her English Bulldog Jeff. It is the same number as the one you posted. I had a gut feeling that something was off with this situation and I thank you for sharing and confirming that my suspicions were true.

I received a dog sitting and walking request on Rover from Rachel and David Hibbard's niece, Ashley. She requested I text her off the app. The phone number they used was (828) 280-2106. The messages they sent me were as follows:

Hello Bre, thank you for reaching out to me. To start with, I’m Rachel Hibbard and my husband David. I work with a non profit organization for adults with developmental disabilities while Dave works as HIV/AIDS cure researcher/critical care specialist. We are relocating to your area in few weeks to manage the health of the CEO of a private company.

Followed by:
I’ll need you to help take care of our lovely dog (Jeff ). Jeff is a 4 yrs old English bulldog, he’s cuddly, very friendly with other dogs, not aggressive around strangers and leash trained so you have any problem when you meet and walk him. This position may be permanent or temporary depending on your availability and schedule. We need someone to take him for walks at least twice a week, exercise and play, brush his coats and feed him anytime you are around. Jeff will be arriving a day before us cause he’ll be transported by a shipping company while we’ll be joining him the next morning. He’ll be delivered in his crates so you'll only just need to stop by to let him out for a few minutes and feed him just for the evening. My husband is willing to pay you upfront to secure your position and also for you to help us get the dog food with a brush. After we arrive, we’ll be needing you for any 2days of your choice for 2hrs each day, totaling 4hrs every week. Our budget is $250 per week. Kindly let me know the 2days and the time that works for you. Pls tell me a little about yourself, what’s the best time to call should my husband decide to interview you further ? Also, what is your zip code for an insight of how close you’ll be to our new home.

Great to hear back from you. We’ll love to have you look after our fur baby. We’d have love to meet you before you start but our tentative arrival date is 18th of June but our dog will get there 17th of June. My niece just said she received a message on the app saying she violated their guidelines because she shared contact info but she just emailed their support to rectify it. We’ll make out a certified check to you to cover your first week payment so as to be sure we’ve secured your service before our arrival and also to help us purchase  the needed items. You’ll receive a check from Dave’s employer in which you’ll deduct your first week payment and the remaining money will be used to buy the dog food, brush , a few kitchenware. We hope that’s fine by you ? We will be moving to Buckeye Dr, Naperville, IL 60540 hope that’s not far from you ? Attached are few pictures of Jeff and myself . What is the name, address and phone number you want the payment mailed to ?

Sounds good and thanks a lot. I just forwarded your details to my husband’s account clerk so he can prepare the check. We are still making the list of the needed kitchen items but I’m sure of the cooking unit for now. The Dog take orijen Original ( 25 lb bag ) or pedigree ( 50 lb bag) and the brush is the slicker brush type. Water bowl, shampooing towel and walking leash will be coming with him . We’ll surely get the list and the check across to you once they are ready.

I stupidly gave them my info (name and address). I've read everyones posts following their experience and it seems its nothing more than a money order scam. I received photos which is how I found it was a scam. I reported the niece's account on Rover. I plan to watch out for myself in the next couple weeks just to make sure since I live alone. I blocked the phone number which was being used on an iPhone.

I also gave my address. Fingers crossed nothing happens!

I had to pay $40 just for the chance to talk with a fraudulent customer. I then contacted the company and they only replied with auto form emails saying that I don't have any rights. Scam!

Thank you for ALL the previous reports and complaints! Saved me

First I received this notification on Rover and of course, I answered because I LOVE DOGS and want to dog sit, that's why I have a pet-sitting profile.

Then she sent me this in her first email:
Hi Nora,
To start with; I’m Naomi Scott and my husband David Hulet. I work with a non profit organization for adults with developmental disabilities while Dave is a cloud engineer. I’m partly deaf but I hear well with the assistance of my cochlear implant.

After we arrive, we’ll be needing you for any 3 days of your choice for 2hrs each day, totaling 6hrs every week. Our budget is $35 per hour ($210 per week). Pls tell me a little about yourself, what’s the best time to call should my husband decide to interview you further ? Also, what is your zip code for an insight of how close you’ll be to our new home.

I responded and was very honest because wanted to make any dog owner feel comfortable reading about a potential caregiver for their pet.

second email:

Great to hear back from you. You sound adorable. we'd really love to have you look after our fur baby. We'd have loved to meet you before you start but our tentative arrival date is 5th of Feb but our dog will get there 4th of Feb. I look forward to hearing back from you.

I haven't responded and don't think I will, will just block her. these are the pictures of her "jeff" it's a female english bulldog and that's what got me questioning wayyy more. the dog and dogs interchangeably, shipping your dog to a new city/new house when you have a family relative living there, its so fake soooo many red flags and that's how I found this page when I google searched her AND david hulet because naomi scott is a famous actress so make sure you put the husbands name when you search too.

Received message from Mary on Rover asking me to contact her aunt about a pet-sitting job. Texted number given, Naomi responded and asked for email. Sent email instead and received scam message below (similar reports made about couple by these names on this site):

The same thing happened to me. At first I was already wary, but was willing to move forward as I try to see the best in people. Some things just did not add up though. For one, why was one of the pictures in black and white? I passed that off as, maybe she took it from her social media. I used to do it. Also, the email address appeared to alternate. Red flag 2. When I suggested setting up some kind of facetime, as a young female I am very cautious, she neither agreed nor refused and just gave me her phone number. When I got the check, the red flags went from gently rustling in the breeze to blaring red sirens. As such, I looked up how to reverse image search, I know some gen-z'er I am, and lo-and-behold we got a match! That lead me to here.
I then proceeded to insult her and told her to kiss my [censored]. She has yet to respond. The sad part is, I'm really young (Just turned 20) and am desperate for cash to fix my computer for college. Had I not been a female and had this sense of paranoia drilled into me (a regretful necessity), the chances are she would have gotten a lot farther, maybe even succeeded; though I doubt that. Anyone else who encounters her? Send her a gif of someone shaking their [censored] at her (mockingly ofc) while telling her 'Kiss my [censored]'. OR just come up with the most creative and innovative insults you can. Maybe add a bit of passive aggressiveness with it too, though that is hard to do over text, it can be done. Take it from the master.
Same thing happened to me, found out, told her to kiss my [censored]

Had the exact same experience, same emails and pics from Naomi Scott this time saying she is moving to Milwaukee, WI. Lol. Luckily I did not cash the check.. Why is this person still allowed on petsitter.com after so many reports?! I have read at least 20 other people getting scammed by this same person since 2015!

Same thing here! Received the same email as all of you BUT what really stumped me was when she included "I work as finance director with a non profit organization for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities..." I previously worked with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities which means they did a little bit of research on me to add that information in there which makes me feel a little uneasy! Do not fall for this scam! EMAIL BELOW. So glad I decided to do a google search on the two names before I responded and things went a little further.

"Hi Brittney,

I'm sorry it took a while to respond to your email, I get a lot of spam emails and my inbox sets my incoming messages in descending order so I didn't get to see your email up until now.

Well, to start with; my name is Naomi Scott (I'll be 36 in August) and my husband is David Hulet but people call him Dave (he turned 40 in February). We're both originally from South Africa but I moved to the United State in 2016 for my Masters degree in Business Administration so we met in school here in United State, Dave is a Financial Analyst and I work as finance director with a non profit organization for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We'll consider ourselves an easy going couple. I'm partly deaf but I hear absolutely better with the assistance of my cochlear implant.

However, we need a dedicated and reliable pet care for our 2 adorable dogs (Busta & Jeff), this position could be permanent or temporary depending on your availability and schedule. My husband's employer just got a project on a research for data collection analysis and my husband is part of the team leaders in charge of the contract so we need to relocate from our present place to your area in few weeks' and we'll be needing a someone to walk our fur children because I'm 6 months pregnant and I won't be able to do much with the dogs till I put to bed, we're expecting to have a girl and this is our first human child so we want everything to go perfectly well till I give birth.

Jeff is a 4 year old (German shepherd) Dave got him in London and we consider him as our first son, Busta is a 2 and half years old (Siberian Husky) and he loves to play our second child. They are both cuddly, very friendly with other dogs and not aggressive around strangers so you shouldn't have any problem when you meet them, although Busta can be naughty sometimes but it's nothing to worry about.. They're quite spoiled and very lovely but Jeff has a run that he is hooked up to when our neighbor's chickens are out but when they're roosting he goes a free range of a lot of miles, LOL... They receive Bark-boxes every month end and they're allowed on our furniture despite Jeff's shedding. They've really been one of our lives' greatest blessings and I'm very glad that Dave also loves them as much as I do.

They mean everything to us and we'll be really happy if we can get someone that will love and take care of them just as much as we do. We'll be needing you to brush their coats and take them for walks at least once every week, they are leash trained so you shouldn't have any hard time whenever you walk them, you can walk them together or you can take turns to walk them separately. I can still sometimes manage with their feeding and you can also feed them anytime you're around.

However, the most important part is the dogs will be arriving a day before us because they'll be transported by a shipping company while we'll be coming with our luggages the next day so they'll be delivered to our new home in the evening before we join them the next morning. So my husband is willing to pay you in advance just to be sure we've secured you for the position before the dogs arrive and also for you to help us get the dogs food with brush and other things needed for them before their arrival. They'll be delivered in their crates so you'll only just need to stop by to let them out for a few minutes and feed them just for the evening.

So when we arrive and settle in, you'll be working for any 2 days of your choice weekly for 2 hours each day, totalling 4 every week, although we'd prefer to have a set schedule but we can also be flexible if your weekly routine is not stable, we'll just need you to give us heads up if there will be any change of schedule. You'll be coming to take care of the dogs in our house, I'll be at home everytime you come since I'm pregnant and won't be working when we arrive till I put to bed.. We intend to pay $35 per hour for both dogs. Kindly let us know the 2 days and the time that will be convenient for you to walk the dogs.

Moreso we'll need your zip code so to have an idea of how close you'll be from our new home just to enable us to calculate your transportation cost if needed.

SCHEDULE & PAYMENT: 2 DAYS FOR THE TOTAL OF 4 HOURS EVERY WEEK (2 hours daily for any 2 days weekly, making 4 hours & $140 per week)
Anytime before 8pm

With the move to a new area and a wonderful little princess on the way, we're hoping to employ a reliable person so I hope you've read and understood the job description and what it entails as we want things to be done with honesty as instructed, we're a lovely family and we show people around us with the same gesture and utmost respect.

Could you tell us a little more about yourself, also what's your cell number and what's the best time to call you just in case my husband would like to interview you further over the phone?

Looking forward to hearing from you...

Kind Regards & Thanks
Naomi"

Can I ask what I should do? I cashed the check back in late December, early January but never had any problems. My bank account never got hacked and I never had any financial problems.

Have been emailing with this "lady" for about a week after I quit my last job, sounded perfect and my boyfriend agreed. Too perfect, in my opinion. Got these images in a recent email and found it extremely suspicious, so I reverse-Google searched them. Wow. She had the same story you all showed, being pregnant and needing some help, but said they come from South Africa. If anyone needs help figuring out more info, just know this is a scam. Don't trust these people, you might get hurt or homeless.

I have an account on Petsitter.com as a way of trying to earn some extra money, as I love animals with all my being. I found her ad listed as near where I am, saying that if anyone was interested to email her, so that's what I did. It took a little over a week for her to respond, and when she did, it was in incredible detail, though not perfect English. She seemed really nice, however, so I chatted back and forth to the point where we exchanged numbers to communicate more easily. She said she and her husband would be sending me a check and that I'd have to get a could things in advance to help them out, since they were apparently moving to my area from New York by the end of the month. Luckily, I only was able to get a dog brush, as the brand of food she told me to get was too expensive, and I couldn't find the right size of bag for the other brand she mentioned, because when I got the check, instead of being 200 (140 for me, an extra 60 for the food and whatnot), I got 2,480 dollars. My mom, partner, and I were all weirded out by this, but I, usually trying to see the best in people, didn't think anything of it. My mom, however, immediately started looking up pet scammers because she was worried and didn't want me to get hurt, and I'm glad she did. The next morning, she sent me a few sites about them, and later I looked up Naomi specifically, and found multiple sites about her and everyone had the same story and the same email and everything. I didn't even go cash the check, and when I asked her about why it was so much, she then explained that all but 250 was supposed to go to kitchen appliances and such, even though she'd never mentioned anything about that before. Then a couple days later, she asked if I'd cashed it, and I told her that I took it to my bank and they thought it looked a bit weird and wanted to verify it, and she never responded back, even when I asked about them the night before my supposed job was to start, further proving the scam she is.

I'm so glad that I caught this! I just joined pet sitter a couple of weeks ago. And found the same job listing. Naomi just got back to me today after a few weeks. Gave me the same exact email response that everyone has been posting. But I had no idea of scammers at the time. I responded with broad information about myself. But after sending the email, I thought I would just look up their names to see what companies they work for. Just out of a gut feeling. And sure enough, the first thing was pet scammers under the same name, email, email response, etc. Claiming that they were moving from NY to my area, she was six months pregnant, and their two dogs. I will be reporting this and so glad I caught this in time. And so sorry for others that were scammed by these same people.

So I thought I found a good opportunity because I love dogs and this person happened to have 2 of my favorite breeds. They decided to hire me and she told me all these details about which food they need and all this junk about moving. Everything seemed fine, except the grammar but she was supposedly hard of hearing so I thought maybe that was why. I received a check for $2480 delivered via FedEx from the company Bead Industries in Connecticut when I was supposed to only be getting $240 for my first week of sitting. That’s when I started to get a little suspicious but I still stupidly deposited the check into my account anyways. I wasn’t completely suspicious because she sent me photos of herself supposedly and her dogs, which i looked for on google and couldn’t find so I thought they were legit. I still had a weird gut feeling and then this person kept asking me if the funds were available in my account several times within one day so I decided to google the email. Turns out this person has left the same ad on basically every pet sitting website with different cities each time. I transferred all my savings and money into a different account so it doesn’t get stolen and I hope I can call my bank and have them fix the check situation. God I’m stupid and I can’t believe I didn’t listen to my gut.

+2

Can you help me? I depossited the check ?

I have also received the same email that is copied below. She will also text you and make it seem that she can’t speak on the phone because the office “has bad connection” automatic red flag. I already had a feeling something was fishy and I just felt like let me just google this phone number and this helpful article popped up. Remember people if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

+1

Glad I came here before money started to get involved! I noticed something was suspicious when I received the first email but the timelines didn’t make any sense because the pet sitting listing had been up for more than a month. Also that first email is a direct copy and paste of the other ones I’ve seen on here. I sent “Naomi Scott” a very heated message, and I’m waiting for a response. I feel so bad for everyone who got fooled by these scammers.

I was contacted 2 times by a "Naomi Scott" from a couple of different emails , originally with the name "angel naomi" , however the pet sitter.com listing was under the name "Dwenolin" , They sent me a $2,480 check from Mint theater company , that her husband "David Hulet" supposedly owns , however after further research this same woman has taken thousands from other people and I will not be cashing this check , I am continuing to text her to see what else she tries to say however THIS IS A SCAM !

I deposited the check, how do I fix it?

Hi, I got the email that many people have got. In the end, after being contacted twice, I entered on Google and saw they were scammers...

Sorry it took a while to get back to you, my inbox gets flooded and it arranges my incoming emails in descending order so I didn't get to see your message until now.

Well to start with, My name is Naomi Scott (34 years) and my husband's name is David Hulet (37 years). I'm originally from South Africa but I moved to USA in 2008 to study Business Management, Dave is a Financial Analyst while I work as an executive director for a non profit organization. We are both easy going and very kind. I'm a bit hard of hearing but I hear pretty well with my cochlear implant.

We need a trustworthy caregiver for our 2 adorable Dogs (Jeff & Busta), this position could be temporary or permanent depending on your availability. My husband's employer recently got a contract with a company on a private research analysis and he's a part of the team in charge of the project so we'll be relocating from our present place of work here in New York to Wichita area in few weeks' time when the COVID-19 hassles all goes down and we'll be needing a walker for our fur babies. We'll be needing a carer for them because I'm 6 months pregnant and I won't be able to do so much with them till after I put to bed, this is going to be our first child and we want everything to go smoothly till I give birth.

Jeff (4 years, 2 months), a German shepherd, Dave got him in London and he is considered our first child while Busta is a monster Siberian Husky, 2 years 8 months old, he's friendly and loves to play our second child. They are both friendly, not aggressive with strangers and they're not temperamental around other dogs but Jeff can be naughty sometimes... Lol, they are quite spoiled and very adorable but Busta has a run that he is hooked up to when our neighbor's chickens are out but when they're roosting he has a free range of many miles. They both receive Bark-boxes every month and we allow them on our furniture despite Busta's shedding. I can still manage with their feeding and whenever you're around you can feed them.

However, the babies will be arriving a day before us because they'll be coming by air while we'll be driving down so they'll be delivered to our new house an evening before we get there the next morning. And my husband wouldn't mind to pay you in advance so we can secure your service before our arrival as well as for you to get some dog food, brush and other things needed for them before their arrival. They'll be delivered in their crates so you might only need to just stop by to let them out the cage and feed them just for the evening.

So when we arrive and settle in, you'll be working for 2 days a week for at least 2 hours each day making 4 hours a week, we'd prefer to have fixed days but we can be flexible if your weekly schedule is not stable, just let us know ahead of time. You'll be coming to our house to look after the dogs.. We are willing to pay $35 per hour for both dogs. We'd need to know the time and days of the week that you'd be coming around.

Moreso we'd like to know your zip code so we can see how close you are to our new home and also to enable us calculate your transportation cost if needed.

TERMS - 2 DAYS FOR THE TOTAL OF 4 HOURS WEEKLY (2 HOURS DAILY)
Anytime before 8pm

I hope you've read and understood all I have written as I want things to be done with sincere honesty as instructed, we're very pleasant and show people around us that same gesture.

Can you tell me a little bit more about you and also what's your cell phone number and the best time to call in case my husband would like to interview you further?

I will be waiting to hear from you.

You'll be coming to our house to look after the dogs.. We are willing to pay $35 per hour for both dogs. We'd need to know the time and days of the week that you'd be coming around.

Regards

THEIR REPLY:
You sound so adorable and we'd love to have you take care of our babies as we hope to get the best care for them. We are a pleasant family and I'm sure you won't have any issue working with us. We'd have really loved to meet you before you start and if the Covid-19 situation gets better we intend to relocate on February 28th but our dogs will be arriving on February 27th so there's no way we'll be able to meet you before then since the dogs will be arriving a day before us. They'll be arriving in the evening if everything goes as planned, we already made arrangements with the shipping company to deliver them to our house, they'll be there for the evening till we arrive early next morning so you don't have to worry about boarding them :). We might only need you to feed and check on them once before we join them next morning if that will be convenient for you but if not we can make another arrangement for them..

And also, for the first payment we might have to make out a certified check to you for your payment before our arrival so to be sure we've secured you for the position but the subsequent payments will be made by cash every week. You will receive a check from Dave's company which you will deduct your upfront payment for the first week and the remaining funds will be used to buy the Dog foods, brush with some other things needed for the dogs and you'll also help us get few kitchenware. We would have preferred to make the payment through money transfer (zelle or cashapp) to you but my husband's company are the ones handling the payment so they'll prefer to pay with a check so to enable them have everything well documented for record purposes.

We're moving to Pickering Dr, Little Rock, AR 72211, hope that's not far from you? We'll instruct the realtor to text you the full address once they finalize and sign all contracts with David's company so as to help us with few necessary preparations before our arrival. Like I said, we are willing to pay $35 per hour for both dogs but for the first week we'll pay $200 because of the other errands you'll be helping us out with. We hope that's OK by you. You have to do all the shopping before we arrive so you won't have to start running around when the babies arrive. More so, the Financial Clerk would be needing the following Information to make out a check for the payment.

Full Name:
Mailing Address:

All we need from you is absolute honesty and sincerity and I promise you'll also have a nice period of time working with us. Attached are a few pictures of myself with the dogs.

Regards and make sure to stay safe out there. :)

Omg I cashed the check but after I found all this out I transferred all my money in both my accounts to my moms that’s a bank in Ohio. How do I fix it!?

I wish I had seen these posts earlier. I was fooled. They took advantage of my dog recently passing and me being in a vulnerable place emotionally and financially. I just wanted to make some money being around and caring for animals. Now I'm out half my savings and bank wont help me :(

I was emailing back and forth with Naomi Scott about the Pet Sitter job and did not come across this page until I searched her husband's name (David Hulet). When I initially searched Naomi Scott, this did not come up. My emails and job description looked exactly the same as the ones posted on here and red flags that I should have noticed were that she never gave a specific address they were moving to, she mentioned but never followed through with talking on the phone and was overall pretty vague. It sounds like these people send a check upfront to "buy supplies" and then ask you to use Zelle or Cash app to buy said supplies out of pocket (to supposedly be reimbursed by the check) but then the check does not go through and you lose money. Do not trust Naomi Scott and David Hulet, they may be on PetSitter.com under a different name but the email she used for me was [email protected].
