Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

When I answered the phone, caller said, “Hello, grandma.” When I said he didn’t sound like any grandson I had, he said he had been in an accident and an airbag had cut his lip and he had stitches. I said, sarcastically, “That’s too bad.” He hung up.

This man had a slight Hispanic accent. Someone has called from this number before and I did not answer. When called the second time this morning, I answered in a curt and unfriendly way. This has to be another scam.

Type of a scam Phishing

The caller,Bryan, said he was calling from my Dermatologist's office, though he repeatedly mispronounced my doctor's name. He wanted to know if I was still insured with Aetna and I told him I was on Medicare now and had supplemental through AARP. He asked me for my Medicare number which I proceeded to recite until I realized I was giving him my social security #. Luckily I stopped before completing the number and told him I would call the doctor's office back. At that point he hung up. I believe he was already aware I was on Medicare, but he knew about my previous health insurance company, my recent appointment with the doctor, and perhaps even that I was awaiting the results of a biopsy taken there. I confirmed with my doctor that no one had called from their office. A very close call!

I believe this was a scam to get you to say "yes" over the phone as a way for the scammer to authorize fraudulent transactions. Unfortunately I was at work and in the middle of a couple of things and at first I said "hello" and when they responded with "hello" I then asked "yes?" at which point the call ended.

Type of a scam Tech Support

I called 844-221-2543 which I got from search results. They were posing as match.com customer service. They said they could fix the problem. They made me go through all these steps to where the linked up to my computer. I could see the keystrokes on my side. Then they said to fix it it would cost 150. I realized it was as scam and told them and I hung up. I was looking at my computer and saw my computer go to a porn site then turn on my camera and it was directly on me. I immediately shut my computer down. And I haven't been able to get on it since. I eventually got in touch with a legit match.com rep and they said that was def a scam as they fixed the problem right away no charge.

These people keep calling me, then hang up every time I say any form of “yes”. Now I’m concerned about having to get a new card issued by my bank for precautionary measures.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

An automated voice Voice said this was an attempt to collect a debt is said that it was going to pre-recorded for security purposes it said that I owed for a loan that was taken out in 2012 which was not correct. They said that they had tried to contact me back in September 2017 for a settlement at $1500 which was also not true . They then stated that if I make this settlement payment that the sheriff would not send papers for me to go to court .

Type of a scam Employment

I am a student who will be graduating soon. I was looking for a job to start after graduation and there was a job offer for personal assistant via Ziprecruiter. The name of the "employer" was Marc Kreger. He offered to pay $580 weekly if I were to do some errands for the foster homes. Thinking as a student with little money: "Why not?" He sent me a check of almost $3,000 and I went to deposit it. It almost went through but my bank caught it, and told me it was a fraud check. On the first e-mail, he did not give me a time or date to meet for a job interview, claimed to be a business consultant. When I asked him (3 times) about whent can we meet, he ignored my question. Do not buy into something such as this.

Do not trust someone like Marc Kreger or anyone similar. I understand as a student you are looking for jobs to start until you reach for advance degrees. Be vigilant.

Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

Our business has received two calls this week from an anonymous caller stating he is "Mike." He is either "in our copy room" or calling about repairing our copiers. The first call I stated we do not have a copier and he hung up immediately. Today I stated that he called yesterday and that this is a fake call. He told me to "shut the F up." I hung up on him.

I have no way of tracking him other than the call came to our number at 11:16 a.m. today and I believe 12:08 p.m. on Tuesday. I indicated below that we did not loose money and that the scammer did not attempt to take money, but that may be because he did not get the opportunity to progress in the call. I also did not know the exact Type of Scam to indicate so I chose Counterfeit Product as he talked about copiers that we do not have.

Type of a scam Tax Collection

I received a call from the above number and it was automated stating that I was being taken to court for tax fraud. They specified that they had tried contacting me for 6 months about said fraud with no success so in their eyes no response from me on the issue meant I was in fact guilty of tax fraud. I immediately hung up and turned around and called the number back. The phone was answered on their end but no one said anything. I could hear a call center in the back ground. After saying hello quite a few time a foreign lady answered back but she was unsure what I was saying. I hung up again. If this was not a scam the IRS has really outsourced it's jobs!

Type of a scam Online Purchase

In my research for Teacup Yorkie breeders, I came across the "Mummy Love Teacup Yorkies" which offer 50% puppies and free shipping. No information listed as to where they are located or the name of the breeder. Through the website, I contacted them asking about one of the listed puppies; even though I was pretty certain it was illegitimate. I was highly suspicious as there appeared to be grammatical errors throughout the website and the responding email messages. In addition, I checked with AKC and there was nothing in that name. From further research on BBB, it appears this is a scam (no surprise) and they have a history of changing names, websites, used private addresses as their location, etc. Apparently people have been scammed by these people after sending money for puppies they never receive through. Beware and always do your research!

Type of a scam Debt Collections

I receive calls 2-3 times a day from the above tel number (2174628009) stating that my vehicle warranty is about to expire. The agent informs that I should extend my warranty insurance with their company. I state that my warranty expired a long time ago and the agent automatically hangs up. The next day I continue to receive calls. This has been taking place for about a month. I have no information what is the name of the firm. I do know the calls are coming from Decatur, Illinois. Sometimes when I pick up, no one answers on the other end and just hangs up. This is very disturbing. This needs to stop.
