Type of a scam Government Grant

I received a call, but did not answer. I instead a day later decided to call back to see who it was (recently I had surgery wanted to make sure it wasn't like a medical bill office). A young man with a thick accent answered the phone with just "Hello?" So, I then said "Hi, I received a call from this number, just trying to see who this was and what you needed."

He then told me that I was chosen, because I'm a good standing citizen who has never filed for bankruptcy and have no criminal record, to receive a Government Grant of $7000. No strings attached, as long as I don't use the money to gamble or things like that. He just wanted some information from me first. The minute he asked for just my zip code, I hung up.

He gave me a call back asking why I hung up, he is legit giving me $7000. I got his name, it's Sabatian. So, I explained to him that I already know that this was a scam. I had a few choice words with him before I hung up the phone.

I did not follow through with the entire scam, so from where I got to with the conversation he did not ask for any money....I didn't have the patience to make it that far. So please if you receive these calls, it is 100% not legit and please just hang up the phone.

They have called me a plethora of times. Every time I ask to speak to a manager to be removed from the list that hang up on me. When I asked the name of their company they told me something in Arabic. This is getting very annoying and I cannot stop them from calling me.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I initially received a message from a friend on LinkedIn, who appeared to be sharing a financial opportunity to participate in a consumer research study.

After following the hyperlink in the message, I signed up to be a participant, and was contacted by a person named Joe Budden. Joe explained that he would be sending a check in the mail, and I would be depositing this check at a check cashing location, and responding with feedback on their customer service.

Once I agreed to participate, I received an email with more information, which made it clear that this was a scam. He was actually asking me to deposit the check into my bank account, then quickly go to the check cashing location and complete the task. Obviously their check would have not cleared in my account before I completed the wire transfer. In his email, he made it clear that the operation needed to be performed very quickly.

Joe was also texting me, to confirm that I had received the check, and was prepared to make the deposit.

Type of a scam Government Grant

Dorothy Smith is claiming to have received $200,000. From the Government, originally it was stated it came from Health Department, giving to poor, elderly, deaf or low income. Later, the money comes from the Federal Government. I do not believe it & know it is a scam. Lady has no profile on FB. She claimed it came to her through UPS. I'm not ignorant & am going to block her.
