Type of a scam Rental

I responded to an ad on Craigslist advertising a one bedroom apartment for rent. I proceeded to respond to the ad through text message and then began communicating with this scammer through email. The scammer first sent me a rental application, stated I was approved, then proceeded with a lease agreement. This person then requested the deposit, first months rent, and three additional deposits that they stated were for renovation, painting etc. They shared bank account information with me so I could deposit the money in cash to their accounts. Each time I made an additional deposit the person stated that they would send me the keys to the apartment but never sending anything. I tried asking for my money back and they haven't responded.

Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

Variations of this number repeatedly call me throughout the day, at least once an hour. Some are robot voices, some hang up or leave no message, some leave 4 second voicemail with just background noise, and sometimes there is a person talking looking to have a conversation. One call was about student loan forgiveness, some others are "an attempt to collect a debt". They vary each time.

Listed a car for sale on Craigslist, and within three hours I received a call from the would-be scammer. On the phone I heard a man ask, "Is your car still for sale?" but before I even spoke up to respond, they disconnected the call. I'll never know if it was really the scammer's voice on the other end or simply a pre-recorded voice clip, because after they hung up, the same number started to text me. They never called me and I never bothered to call either - from this point on, our only communication was through text messages.

After about twenty minutes total of texting each other, with the scammer pretending to be an interested buyer, I got a strange text the was just an email address: [email protected]

I waited around ten minutes for another text, presuming the email to be sent by mistake, and they finally did send another, still playing the role of the interested buyer, asking me, "are you still there?"

When I text them this time, I said not to worry and that I'm still available, and they quickly replied with two text messages which were to be the final communications I ever received from their number.

The first text read, "Once I see a copy of the report from maybe we can schedule a time to meet for a test drive" followed immediately by, "Let me know after you've pulled the report and we can make a time to meet"

Deciding to first educate myself about "what in the world is vinreportgold dotcom," instead of finding his site I instead found a handy list of the actual TRUSTED sites to use for a VIN report, and his site strangely never made the list.

I keep getting random calls from what sounds like sales people, the problem is I said yes after they said my name twice today and then the phone disconnects. When you try to call the number back it is disconnected. I have had this happen on my home phone and my cell phone frequently. I don't know if it is a new scam or a legit call. It is very frustrating because now I am left wondering that I said yes and are they going to use this some way to scam me. Can these numbers be tracked down and these people stopped!

Type of a scam Online Purchase

Unfortunately, the only two people who have messaged me about my car that I posted on Craigslist yesterday have been scammers. The one that I am reporting right now texted me asking some questions, and then asked for me to get a car history report from some random site that they sent me. Being suspicious after the first scammer, I of course did a little research on the site that they sent me, because I didn't recognize it, and it is indeed a scam.. most likely trying to steal my credit card information.

Type of a scam Tax Collection

Left a threatening message that the police will be arresting me for no tax filing. I do not answer my phone or did not call back. These people should not be allowed to create this type of threats, scam or fraudulent actions. It is becoming a real shame that people are now becoming fearful not to answer their phone calls. Where are the Feds, IRS or "FCC" to enforce these type of infringement? What a terrible world of criminals!!!!
