Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

I do not beleive this is the LENDING CLUB. I called the phone number. It was answered by voicemail, a personal voicemail, he names himself Brian, makes no reference to any business or company affiliation. I beleive he uses Google voice. He has a strong accent.

Type of a scam Phishing

Recorded message that sounds very much like a real person, can be either male or female, stating that you were recently on their job site and then they ask "Can you hear me alright?" If you ask if it's a recording you will always get the same reply of "That's funny, I haven't been asked that before." They will always revert back to a yes or no question and, as you can see, use a phone number starting with 200. Do not answer yes or no, it is a recording, but it does sound like you're speaking with an actual person.

Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

This company called me about eight times before I finally talked to them... big mistake. They claimed to be in student loan forgiveness, and for $174 a month for 7 months, I could pay off my student loans and the rest would be forgiven. They had me writing down math and convincing me that I was a candidate for federal loan forgiveness due to my income and the status of my loans. Stupidly, I gave them my debit card info, and they tricked me into resetting the passwords on my FSA and Nelnet accounts, on which they logged in, changed all the info, and didn’t provide me the passwords. Through these accounts, they obtained my social security number as well. I have since deactivated my debit card, placed a freeze with credit bureaus, and gotten back control of my accounts. I have read that they do not actually pay anything towards your student loans, and I advise anyone who has been tricked into this to take steps to protect your money and your identity.

Type of a scam Government Grant

Type of a scam Phishing

A man named Travis Taylor and his supervisor, Jonathan Smith, contacted me by phone told me that I had not paid my Verizon bill. I found this to be odd as my payment is automatically taken out of my account. Then they asked me for my pin and did not give it to them, but they did change it somehow. After they kept me on the phone for a while, he said he will give me a credit and told me not to take any calls from Verizon for 24 hours as they were not supposed to give me the credit. After, I hung up, Verizon called me and asked me if I placed an order three iPhones. I told them no, Verizon cancelled the order, and then credited me back and took the phone numbers of the men I spoke with.

Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

Don't get bamboozled like my company did! It's a total SCAM to send you thousands of dollars in copier toner. They sure go out of their way to make it all look legit! You'll catch on eventually. Their "business address" is actually an A-1 Mail store in some strip mall. It's all a shell...from business cards, to websites with stock photos and social media. You will find their name but there is no context, no LinkedIn accounts for sales reps. What person in sales do you know NOT on LinkedIn? Toner for our copiers cost about $150 on the open market. Guess how much they charge you...$465.00 each!!!! It's really criminal! Not to mention so morally wrong! How do these people live with themselves knowing they commit fraud every day? It's horrible when you realize the Admin. Asst. before me had been tricked by them for over a year. When I came on board the information was just relayed to me and we continued to use them. Thank goodness I started to question the frequency of the sales phone calls. Their tricky, fast talking rep who said it was time for toner when I knew good and well we had tons in stock! The jig is up CIS! Our actual copier company calls them "Toner Bandits". They are thieves in every sense of the word!

Type of a scam Online Purchase

It's a free trial offer but what is not up front is that your credit card will be automatically charged for the product if not return within 14 days AND SUBSEQUENT, automatic refill orders will be shipped and charged to your credit card. There is no paperwork included in the trial product shipment with instructions as to where to return it. Once the Terms and Conditions are examined, it is possible to find a phone number and help website. Both of the above mentioned contact options do not work. This had been an almost $200 mistake.

Called, said someone is filing legal action bc of a “bad check” I wrote (gave the name of the person & everything——never met or wrote this so called person a check). Never wrote a bad check in my life. Have a reference number and a number to call back at (they called at 4:51pm on Wednesday). When I called back, it went to an automated service and to leave a voicemail. It’s a complete scam.
