I was contacted by a good friend on Messenger. Turns out she was hacked and didn't know it. I was contacted by text message and asked for basic information, name, address, and the reason you need money. I just happened to be speaking with this friend on another messaging app and realized immediately what was going on. Fortunately they didn't get to the part where they ask for a"fee," I caught on fast but they had to have done research on my friend because they said things that my friend would say.

*** *** called first (saying she find our caller online searching life insurance policies) and then came to their home and took a $150 check. Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

A Rep from a company called "*** *** *** ***" contacted me on 4/4/19. He fraudulently stated they were a division of ** *** ** ***. He told me: "The *** *** *** *** program I had recently entered into was a scam. Said *** *** *** (the company overseeing my loan rehab at the time of his call) was a scam company & they, *** were the legitimate overseers of my Fed student loan account." After a long inquiry process where he asked for all my personal info to be verified (this company ALREADY had my personal info: SSN, address, phone #, place of employment, student loan amt & detail info, names of colleges I attended, etc.), which I did verify because I thought I was speaking to the actual ** *** ** *** The Rep, Christian ***, then told me I qualified for a "loan forgiveness" program but I needed to pay $250 per month for 3 months and then my payments would drop down to $5 a month afterwards. I was told "this money is put into a trust account until we do what we say we will do, which is remove any negative remarks on your credit regarding student loans, make monthly payments toward your old loan debt and stop any wage garnishment." *** had all my personal info, sent me a "welcome email" with the ** *** ** ** logo, web address, etc. on it (again leading me to believe this was legitimately from the actual *** ** **). He asked for 3 recent pay stubs, which I was asked to email to his colleague, Raquel ***, which I did. He said upon receipt of the pay stubs I was successfully enrolled in an "actual *** *** *** *** Program" and he then asked for my bank account # (checking & routing #) and drafted $249.33 out of my primary checking account with *** ***. This was to be a reoccurring monthly draft over the next 3 months, with an additional $5 on the 3rd month followed by monthly payments of $5 thereafter. I was emailed official looking documents to e-sign, which I did, and asked to submit those back via email in a PDF, which I also did, sending those to his co-worker, Raquel ***. Prior to the call from *** I was currently on a monthly payment plan with *** *** *** (***), the company previously handling my student loans w/ the ** *** ** **, with *** drafting $135 monthly from my checking account, which was to be paid directly to the ** *** ** ***  Fahringer at *** *** *** told me again, *** was not legit and they were scammers and he said he would file a "cease and desist order" with them on 04/04/19 to stop further drafts now that I was working with them as the legitimate US *** ** ** defaulted student loan overseers. It was only as of this morning that I saw *** had still drafted the monthly $135 out of my account that I began further investigating this and found a number to the real US *** ** ** where I was able to speak with a live person to verify that yes, *** is the legal, legitimate servicer of my old loans and yes, "*** *** ***" is the actual SCAM company! I was instructed by the US *** ** ** to open a fraud investigation and freeze/close all my accounts at Wells Fargo, which I did, to file a complaint here with the FTC, to file complaints with the BBB, Fed Student Aid Dept with the US *** ** ** & with also the Credit Bureau/reporting agencies. I am EXTREMELY concerned because these scammers at *** *** *** now have ALL of my personal info and copies of my pay stubs w/ ADP as well as my SSN and bank account #'s (closed acct as of today). I honestly cannot believe I fell for this, but all their docs, logos & web addresses looked official and had the US *** ** ** seal, which I did investigate. But, these scammers did their due diligence in creating fake docs and covering their tracks. They even went so far as to contact the US *** ** ** & change my address to THEIRS in Irvine, CA, I suppose to intercept any official notifications from *** or the *** ** ** when they were no longer receiving payments from me. Unbelievably deceptive and fraudulent. PEOPLE HEED MY ADVICE, DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM OR THESE SCAMMERS!!

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I did a search for a product and the best prices were found on *** *** and ordered two of them. As soon as the site collected my billing and credit card information, the website said the order was processed. I did not even have a chance to enter my shipping address information. I had a bad feeling about this so I called the number on the website - the call went straight to voicemail and went unanswered. I attempted to send several e-mails to *** and the e-mails kept bouncing. I clicked on the social media accounts linked to the website and they all went to the Shopify social media accounts. In addition, the payment was processed and appeared on my credit card account by the name of *** All of which to say, I was convinced this was a complete scam. But then five days later, I received a package with no return address at all. In it was ONE of products I ordered. I was surprised to have received the item at all. But I did not receive my second item. Again, all of my attempts to reach the customer service of the business was futile. Please save yourself the time and trouble and pay the extra few bucks to order your products from a legitimate online business.

Yesterday around 3 a man left a message on my house phone saying a company had gone out of business and I was getting a refund and to call back. When I told him I couldn't understand him he asked me if I had a hearing problem and started cussing me so I hung up.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

These people called my cell phone number. Told me that I would qualify for student loan debt forgiveness. I believed them. Stupid. I paid them a bunch of money. I called my loan company that has my loans. They said that is was a scam. Student Loan forgiveness is not possible unless you work for the government, are a injured veteran or a teacher. I was stupid. I will pursue getting my money back, but it will be difficult since you can never really get anyone on the phone there. It is really disappointing that these people are doing these kinds of things. They are probably sending the money to terrorist groups.

Be careful out there.

I hope the BBB can help spread the word. I hope they can help me.
