Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

Male caller claims I won over $7 Million sweepstakes and car. Gave long, detailed information regarding delivery and needed a $375.25 UPS processing fee for delivery. There was a lot of pressure, including that my cancellation would be on television in the next 30 minutes.

He gave me his telephone #: 1-876-405-3768 with a cancellation number to call back. He is very convincing, even saying that an IRS agent would be present at delivery -- with names. I refused to accept, so lost no money.

I received an email stating that my business had been recognized as "Best Academy in Kyle". To claim my award was a $199 fee for the "crystal" trophy to display in my business. I was excited to be named "Best of.." and paid the fee. Now I read a Scam warning from BBB in Washington State. I feel duped. Others in the area should know. I lost $200.

: Duke Energy scam. We were contacted at 5pm today by "Duke Energy" that our service would be cut off if we didn't make am immediate payment. The employee took the phone number 1-800-574-0903 and said we would call back. I called them and a middle eastern accent recording said it was Duke Energy. Immediately I questioned this as 1. I have called Duke many times and this wasn't their message. 2. The message said if I had a power outage to cal 911. NOT a Duke direction. 3. There were only 3 options. No new service, no report trouble, etc. Just customer service, billing and disconnects. First I talked to "disconnects". A man with a very BAD southern accent sent me to "billing'. If I was being disconnected why would I be transferred to billing? Talked to billing. This man wanted my account number so I played stupid and said my employee panicked and didn't get the Red Dog location so I didn't have it. He has to "look up something". I think I'm possibly on hold, but

the phone sounds live. PLUS there is no annoying Duke Energy spiel. Different guy comes on the line who sounds drastically like bad southern accent guy. He asks what company - again, Red Dog. I ask what location. He gives me an address we haven't used in our marketing in YEARS. I tell him that is not my address. Here is where I slip up. He asked me the address and I gave it to him. He says yes we show that address also. I started laughing and told him if he was going to impersonate Duke Energy he'd better do a much more professional job of it and I would be reporting him to what ever local station and/or agency I could. End of call.

Type of a scam Government Grant

someone called me and said that I qualify for a government loan in the amount of $6700. I have to go to walmart to pay 250.00 for taxes and the loan would be available in 30 to 45 minutes. They stated that I qualify for the Government grant because I never filed for bankruptcy and have no criminal charges. It doesn't seem right if the government was giving out grants I assume that the taxes would be taken out before any money was sent to me. I asked is there a website that I can check to see if my name was on the list. He told me to check Obama.net which was weird to me because the president wouldn't have a website with his name.net

This is the emails I received .PEPSI-COLA PROMOTIONAL ADVERTISEMENT PPROGRAM (HIRING NOW!!)Hello, We are currently seeking to employ individual’s world wide. How would you like to make money by simply driving your car advertising for PEPSI.

How it works?

Here’s the basic premise of the "paid to drive" concept: PEPSI seeks people --regular citizens, professional drivers to go about their normal routine as they usually do, only with a big advert for new " DIET PEPSI " plastered on your car or truck. The ads are typically vinyl decals, also known as "auto wraps,"that almost seem to be painted on the vehicle, and which will cover any portion of your car's exterior surface.

What does the company get out of this type of ad strategy? Lots of exposure and awareness. The auto wraps tend to be colorful, eye-catching and attract lots of attention. Plus, it's a form of advertising with a captive audience, meaning people who are stuck in traffic can't avoid seeing the wrapped car alongside them. This program will last for 3 months and the minimum you can participate is

7 weeks.

You will be compensated with $500 per week which is essentially a "rental"payment for letting PEPSI use the space no fee is required from you PEPSI shall provide experts that would handle the advert placing on your car/truck.
