Type of a scam Tax Collection

I received a call from an officer with a badge number from the Dept., of Legal Affairs of US Treasury stating there was a warrant against my arrest for not paying back taxes from 2013. He stated certified mail had been sent July 10 and Sept 12 but documents were returned to them and it was for state and federal taxes. He stated there was a miscalculation and I had not paid it. There was now a criminal case being held against me and they wanted to know if I had a criminal attorney that could represent me. They were going to put a hold on my bank, credit cards, and notify my employer and they were be sending someone to my house within 30 minutes to arrest me! I asked if they could scan or fax the documents and they said not a third time. They stated people who used Turbo Tax and H & R Block for tax filing were be charged with these type of problems.

I hung up and immediately called back and got another person. They too stated the same thing. I told them I did not believe it and thought this was a scam. They insisted it was not and said okay to wait for 30 minutes and see as they were sending an office to my address to arrest me and I should contact my criminal attorney immediately as I will be put in jail and everything I had was to be suspended for three years. They kept repeating it was on a recorded line and finally they hung up.

Calling at night and not getting any sleep because of it. The consumer knows it is a scam but is frustrated that he could not stop them from calling.

Total money lost $720
Type of a scam Other

I hired a carpet cleaning service from living social. The man in charge, Cameron (who said he is a part owner), who came with a helper, stole an envelope of money, about $700, from a drawer inside my bedroom. I found out about this as they were packing up, because I went upstairs to get cash to pay him. When I confronted him, and as soon as I told him I was calling the police, he took off in his van, leaving one of his hoses behind and without "payment". I have the name and number, email and website, as well as his van license plate, but not the physical address of the company. I reported this to the VPD and will report to living social in the morning.

The company:

*** *** *** Metro Vancouver, BC

1 *** *** ***  *** I would really appreciate knowing that this complaint gets circulated, because these people are inside people's houses. He had to go through my drawers to find the money. I'm lucky he didn't take my jewellery.

I just received a phone call from someone at 626-768-0488, saying he was with a solar company. He began by saying the Governor Brown just signed a bill requiring that all CA homeowners must have solar. I cut him off and said that was a scam. I’m sure this company will be scamming others who don’t know.

Type of a scam Tech Support

I have received repeated phone calls from a company that claims there's a problem with my computer. I don't know the ultimate goal - money, ID theft, etc.

Other people I work with have received the same calls. When you call the number back, there's a recording that the number is out of service.

Here are a couple of the numbers:

1 860 540 6999

1 860 646 5825

I'm sure there are some people who will be fooled by these calls and cheated out of some money or something worse.

Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

I am receiving multiple calls this weekend from the number: 267-233-6724 indicating they are notifying me that I need to call to reduce my interest on my credit card. I have stayed on the line to talk to someone directly and told them they are a fraudulent company and have nothing to do with my credit cards and they hang up.

I am now reporting them to the so others can be made aware of this occurring. I know that valid banks never call to reduce interest on a card.

Thank you.

Some Mike guy calls and asks to support the local fire department. He has called me three times now. The first two times his phone connection was very poor. This guy has also called my wifes phone stating the same thing. The phone number is 1-414-431-9095. He is asking for donations but I didn't let him get that far due to the research I found on the internet. It looks like this guy has been calling everyone.

They contacted me on October 13th, 2015 around 11:30 and said they have questions about my credit card account and lowering the interest rate. I spoke with a representative who said he would lower my interest rate for my Discover, Visa, or American Express card but would not specify which card and became very rude and vulgar.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

This man calls from 888-786-7511. States that his company will garnish my pay check if I don't return his call. He does not leave the name of the company he is calling from or representing; nor does he state what company the debt is supposedly owed to. He has called numerous times, leaving the same message. I believe this is a scam to obtain personal financial information.

I have received several phone calls from a "Brian Smith" who claims to be from Smith County and looking to serve papers against me. He has been leaving messages on my voicemail as I do not answer calls of which I do not know the number. The number he was calling from is 903 412 0570.

The latest call said that he would be coming to my house tomorrow between 12 Noon and 4pm to serve the papers and if I was not there it would be considered a "no show". He said on the messages that if I had any questions I was to call 877 454 0281.

I called the Court House and the local Sheriff's department and they do not have a record of my name or any papers filed against me. The Sheriff suggested I called the to report these calls.
