Following my instincts, I ended the call!!!!! While searching for other places I noticed similar ads on Craigslist.org/Raleigh, NC. Just wanted someone else to know. Hope this help, thanks

The email initially came as one of our employees saying he would like to change his direct deposit for his paycheck. Emails went back and forth about me wanting to talk to him face to face about his new account numbers. He said wasn't available at the moment. He said it would be easiest to email them to me and proceeded to email me the new account number. We confirmed with our actual employee that he was not wanting to changing his direct deposit before any change actually happened. Our IT department was shocked how real the email address appeared to look like our internal email addresses as well.

We are getting constant calls on our home phone that show on the caller ID as our own phone number. We have not answered them because we think it is a scam.

Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

I was contacted by *** by phone 5/15/2019. This is the voicemail transcription I received. "Hello this is Lindsay with the student loan servicing approval department I'm contacting you today regarding your federal student loan applications eligibility for the forgiveness program it's important that we speak to you at your earliest convenience you can reach us at *** again that's *** please be sure to mention the reference number *** thank you".

Given the "important" nature of their information they wished to share with me, I called them the following day, 5/16/2019. I spoke with someone named Christopher *** who said he could help me see which loan forgiveness program I qualified for. During the course of our phone call he was able to get me to divulge my login information to my federal student loans, my credit card number, and at the end of the phone call, transferred me to someone named Daisy who I gave my login information to Navient, who I currently pay my loans through. Not once, during his explanation of the REPAYE program, which I found out is offered for free through the federal government, did he explain that it would cost $1,194.00 for his "services" on helping me repay my student loans with a roughly $23,000 savings. He even emailed me a document to sign through a website called DocuSign. This type of document just takes you through the signatures, and even though I did more than skim the document, the process of taking you to the next line, made me skip over a clause about the "service fee". So basically when he had initially proposed my new repayment schedule, the fist six months being $199 a month (which is very high compared to the $19 I spend on my student loans each month through my current income based repayment plan), were actually not going towards my student loans at all, but rather, that was the payments for the service fees. Thereafter, he said my payments would go down to $47 a month, but not once did he explain that I would be paying the first six months solely to ***

Once I realized after I got off the phone that I had been scammed, I cancelled my credit card and changed my login info for the federal loans, and the loan servicer I was already using. I then proceeded to call Christopher *** at the phone number and extension he had provided to me, and left a voicemail saying I wished to cancel the document I signed, as well as I left a voicemail at the general phone number that had called me the day before saying the same. I then decided it might be good to have it in writing as well, so I sent him an email saying I wished to cancel and to please contact me.

This "business" seems to be preying on people dealing with the burden of student loans like so many under the guise of a helping hand. I mean they even had a *** *** *** *** and the *** ** *** seal in the email I received. As a person who I thought was not so easily duped, I definitely fell for this one and wanted to let others know about this. I have redacted personal info from the copy of the email I received from ***

Rip Offs.

*** is a total waste of your money.

You shouldn't be a fool and let *** trick you.

Here's The Scam

*** will promise you the world.

They find your pain points and then convince you they are the answer to all your online problems.

Being hip to online marketing, I thought it couldn't happen to me.

I hired *** for three (3) months and got nothing in return of my money but a bunch of headaches, wasted time, and promises.

*** stole my Google My Business Listing (Check out the very small print).

*** pretended like they was going to help manage my online business listings, but failed to mention I would have to sign over my online listing before they can help.

Without my knowledge or permission, *** changed my administrator to contributor roles.

Tricksters

Essentially stealing my Google online listing right out from underneath my nose.

*** didn't help me much either, and said if I wanted my listing back, I would be better off asking for it back (Apparently takes an act of God to get your administrator role back but *** some how can do it at will).

*** told me if I wanted my *** listing, administrator role back, I had to sign another contract cancelling out our original contract.

This Is Where Things Get Interesting

The new contract stated *** weren't liable for any results for which I hired them.

*** said to me, "we keep your online business listing if you want us to work for you, or we'll give your listing back and you pay us for three (3) months.

Of course I wanted my google listing back, so I paid ***.

*** provided me with nothing for my three (3) months of payments.

I got my business listing back, but because, of the new contract -- I was liable for paying *** for no results.

Not Only That

*** kept on charging me several months after our contract ended.

Even after I canceled my credit card, *** kept withdrawing money from bank account ( I am still not sure how they managed that).

I am still trying to get my money back.

Wait There's More

My bank was able to refund two (2) of my payments, but shortly after the refund, the refund was charged back.

If This Happens To You, This Is What You Should Do

I am going to let everyone know about *** method of operations, and I suggest you make your complaints about *** on Google, ScamPulse.com, Yelp, and then hit them on the social platforms.

Together we can put an end to Fortune 500 Companies who prey on small businesses.

Type of a scam Utility

they called and left a voicemail that said my utilities would be disconnected in the next 30 minutes. I called back. Phone tree to get to rep is set up just like ***. I was told there was a "fraud investigation" against me and that I have been not having payments allocated to right account. The rep got very defensive when I started questioning them further. I told them I would called the official number to *** just to make sure. They got irrate and disconnected. I called the real *** and they confirmed it was fraud.
