Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a Priority 2-day mail envelope with a letter and a cashiers check for $1500.95. I was to go to any Walgreens, Best Buy, Apple Store, CVS or any other store nesrby and purchase Ebay gift cards in the amount of $100. I was to take out my pay of $400, and then a bonus of $100 equaling $500.00. I was to write up a brief survey of how the store looked, clean or not clean, would they let me purchase as many cards as I wanted...things like that. Then they told me to scratch off the back panel of the card to reveal the code and then send a clear picture of each card along with the receipt [email protected] I was to text my report to 701-335-8180.

Type of a scam Employment

Received package from Blake Taylor, Head of Recruitment; SMS ONLY: 520-433-5046. The package had a cashier check for 985 of which 185 was salary. The check was frauded and bounded. I checked with my bank and found out the check was frauded. I also called Extraco bank from which the supposed cashier check was written. They informed the checks used were not real.

From the $985 the other $800 was used to purchase Amazon gift cards in a various amount totaling $800. Then after purchase make copies of the front and back of the cards. Also, I then peeled off the gray bar showing the pin number then took pictures of the pin number forward all information with the survey to [email protected] and [email protected]

I recently received via FedEx another check for S1970 of which $370 is salary.

The current check 1970 is waiting for validation by my bank from Extraco the financial institution.

Type of a scam Phishing

Someone posing as a Chase representative, telling me I’m required to log-in and check alerts that have been sent.

The link isn’t to a Chase bank, it’s from a random phone number, they used incorrect verbiage (i.e. the words ‘Till’ and ‘than’) and had an extra space between the period and last word. Plus, that’s not how chase communicates with its customers.

Type of a scam Government Grant

Messenger friend (with friend's pic) said, "Did you claim your winnings? . It's a gov't grant to help retirees maintain their standard of living." Appeared to be my trustable high school buddy. The message over several days said, "have you checked your winnings? Call attorney Greg Willson and let me know, then I'll help you? I (Facebook) messaged back asking what strings were attached. He replied, "I had to pay tax. Nothing else." I called the number, 580-- 495-4041. No answer. This morning I got a text, "Who is this?" I texted back my first (only) nickname and asked who it was texting me. "This is Blake." And he used my full official name, asking if that was who I was. I did not respond yes or no about my identity. I asked questions about learning about this "grant". Got vague, no specific answers.

I finally got my friend. he said he had not written any such info. So someone was on his messenger. I'm concerned the dude knew my full name. How can I protect myself? I have deleted all the AM texts. The messenger stuff is still there.

They didn't send the dress I needed for a confirmation on March 12, 2019. They sent me an e-mail saying that it was on the way. The day it said it was going to arrive, it never came, so I sent an e-mail and a letter saying that I never got my tracking number and that I spent a good amount of money on that dress.

I received a phone call today with a local Arizona number. I was driving so I didn't answer. They left a voice mail, it was a female who's name was in audible and never left a company name. In the message she claimed that "there were numerous attempts to have me served a notice of 'intent to appear' but was 'told I was not there' so I needed to call and 'set up a place to meet to have me served. and referenced some weird account NUMBER that didn't make sense." She never left a company name just an 888 number. The only thing on that message was my name and my old name when I was married before. They even contacted my boyfriend moments later. He attempted to call back but someone answered and hung up. When I called it was a voice recording of "thank you for contacting definitive consulting systems llc....all of our representatives are busy assisting other customers, please leave your name, number and a message and we will call back." First off.... what legit company has that kind of "voicemail" second, when I did some research that company doesn't pop up anywhere. Instead I found a "definitive consulting SERVICES llc" which BBB lists as out of business. So no, they are not out of business, just a different name. The 888 number is listed on every scam site. I know it's illegal to use a phone spoof meaning they are not from your local area or have a toll free number but use a local number to get you to answer. That is against federal law and is punishable up to 10k PER offense.

I had a message on my answering machine from the Social Security Administration that said my SSN had been used for fraud. I called them back and when an actual person answered the phone and started asking me questions about my information I realized there was no way this was real. I hung up on them.
