Type of a scam Other

I have received many phone calls from Publishers Clearing House. The caller states I have won millions of dollars. He wanted me to send $200 to claim my prize. He has called me before. I told him he was a fraud and he hung up. The phone number on my caller ID is 876-543-8522. I called the FBI last month and reported it. The FBI told me to hang up on them and report it to the Federal Trade Commission. I have never sent them any money. I know this is a scam.

Type of a scam Tech Support

I have been receiving calls from scammers trying to access my computer claiming they are with Microsoft's technical support. Here is their most recent number: 801-736-9999. I am aware that there are many companies like this, and hope you can help resolve this one's existence. A quick Internet search revealed that they use a Microsoft tool (support.me) to access Windows computers, likely for keylogging and identity theft.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

I received a phone call today 2/29/16 saying my wife had outstanding credit card debt from 2007. They used her maiden name and gave me false information regarding her social security and previous addresses and family members. The name he gave was Kevin Scott and that he worked for a law firm and asked me if I would like to settle that debt now.

Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

Caller with hispanic accent called from an allegedly local number telling me that I had a family member who was in a serious car crash, and they told him to call me. After telling him I had no family here (which is true), he said "You have no father, no mother, no family at all?" When I said no, he tried once again to insist that someone gave him *my* number and it was someone in my family. I wasn't giving him anything to work with, so he finally said "Ok m'am, you have nothing to worry about" and hung up. He did not get far enough to attempt to take money, but that was clearly the plan.

I received several phone messages stating that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me for taxes owed. The messages further direct me to call (202) 766-7125 to get more information. I ignored the messages and will continue to do so.

Type of a scam Government Grant

People kept calling me repeatedly telling me that I was eligible for a government grant of $10,000.00 to use any way that I wanted. I would never have to pay it back. In order to receive the money, I would need to send them $250.00 via MoneyGram. They said that I would get the money back. Most of the callers were foreign speaking people. They used different phone numbers to call me. They were very insistent that I should get the money that I was eligible for. They said it was a little know program that was set up by Obama and would not last much longer. They knew my email address. I think they may have gotten it from freebie websites that I was using. They have not called me in months. I did have the phone numbers written down from which they called me. I am not sure if I can find the information now.

Type of a scam Tech Support

This usually happens around December. A pop up comes on the computer saying that you need to update your drivers. When you click on it, they say they need access to your computer to check the drivers. They already have already stopped your computer from working correctly. Once you allow them access, they control your computer and they claim to be Microsoft! They want $39.00 to give you the driver. Once you pay the $39.00, they tell you that they will have a person check your computer. Then they ask for $200.00! I told them that I absolutely will not pay them $200.00 and I want my $39.00 back! I went to the bank and cancelled my debit card. Then I called Dell, the manufacturer of my computer and had to pay them for a program to get the scammers out of my computer and to keep them out. This is not the first time that it happened to me. It is difficult to know that this is a scam until they have control! Never give anybody control.

Type of a scam Romance

I had encountered a lady on the dating site AfroRomance known as Sassypie15. She had claimed she was from California and recently moved to St. Louis, Missouri. I had been talking with her via text and phone, When I spoke with friends about her I noticed that they had brought up good points about what was going on and thought I was being scammed. I did a reverse image search and found the exact pictures of Maima Nkewa a supermodel from Ghana dating a rapper named IcePrince from Nigeria.

I am getting calls and emails from a *** *** ***. Saying that I owe them 1180.00 from 2014 however I never took out a loan with them at all. They are threatening me with legal action. ( arrest warrant, jail time, court, etc.) If I try to talk to them over the phone the people are rude and try to use scare tactics to get me or my family to give them bank account or credit card info. They say they have proof from my bank account with Bank of America but I do not have a open account with them and I've confirmed this with Bank of America as well. They are harrassing me and my grandparents and won't stop until we fall for their tricks.

Received a call from 507-216-9944 saying they were from the Wounded Veteran's and asked to speak with head of household. Then gave a spiel about veterans and asked for a pledge of $50, $35, or $15. I said $35 and then they connected me to "customer care" who asked for my address, which I provided. They said a package would be mailed out to make my contribution. When they hung up I googled the number and it is widely reported as a scam.

Type of a scam Phishing

Left voicemail, stated that she had some notice of intent to deliver and this was a courtesy call telling me she would be at my place of work or home between the hours of 12 and 5 tomorrow to deliver (Tomorrow being Sunday, a day NO legitimate business or government agency would EVER conduct official business), and to call back to make other arrangements. She had my correct name, and stated that she had a social security number that matched my name. Internet traced the call to Quebec, Canada. I have never had any business in any way in Canada.

Upon calling back, I received a notice that their business was closed (same voice as the voice mail), this was less than 5 minutes after the message was left.

I Believe it is a scam, and believe they are phishing to get address, work address, social, ect.
