Type of a scam Phishing

I received a call from 208-230-9637 claiming I had a warrant for my arrest because I didn't report to jury duty.

Last month I received something in the mail about jury duty, I did ignore it. I was told to get a green dot card at Walgreens for $189.30. Go to the Canyon County court House on Nov.2. He called back and I scratched the back to show the number. I was a fool and gave it to him.

He called back later and said the store did a mistake and the card was no good, so I need to go to another Walgreens and get another card. That's when I realized this is all wrong. I tried a search on the phone number and it is a mobile in Payette. The name was covered, they wanted a fee to show his name.

Type of a scam Travel/Vacations

This lady randomly calls me and tells me I've apparently won 75% off a trip to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. When I try to complain and tell her she has the wrong number, she claims she can't hear me multiple times before trying to pass me to a "advisor" to sort out the details. I hung up before the advisor picked up the phone because I knew there was something fishy. They claimed I had won this prize through staying at one of their resorts (which I didn't) and continually pushed for me to buy this vacation.

To receive the grant I was told to go to Walmart and purchase $400 iTune card and provide the number on the back of the card to them since Apple is sponsoring to give back to community. I did. Then I was told to make money order of $999 to pay IRS. I did. Then they told me something was wrong and I needed to do another money order of $999, which I did. Now I know I was scammed. I made report to the police.

Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ for $1500. The ad was soon removed, so I thought that the vehicle had been sold. So I texted the number listed and asked if it was still available. The number messaged me back the next day and said that I needed to email the email listed because they had listed the ad on Craigslist for the holder of the email. So I emailed them and asked if it was available. They asked for my personal address and other information. I realized that it was a scam, so I've been playing along. (Not actually giving them any information) They email their standard emails in reply. Here are a copy of the emails. I just sent the last one and I'm waiting for a reply. I hope the cheery sarcasm is blatantly obvious.

Hello! My name is *** and I saw your ad on Craigslist for the Jeep Cherokee and I was wondering if it's still available? You can email me back or my phone number is (000)000-0000.

Hi again,

Right now I'm in a military base. We are training, getting ready for Afghanistan. I am only allowed to check my email several time a day.We have to stick to e-mail for now.Hope you can understand. The SUV is already at our Military Logistic Department form Fort Belvoir, U.S. Army base crated and ready to go.Like I already said, the delivery process will be managed by me. I think I can have it there at your home address within 2-3 working days. It will come with a clear title and reg. I am a member of the eBay buyer protection program and using this service you will get a 7 days testing period after delivery. During that 7 days testing period I will not be getting any money. I need to know if you are interested so I can ask eBay to send you the details on this deal. If interested please include in your next email your contact info  for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so we can move forward with this transaction.

Here you can find more pictures of the vehicle :

Thank you.

(By this time I had realized that it was a scam)

Before I do send you those, could I have the vehicle VIN number? Also, what form of payment do you prefer?

Thank you,

The vehicle is already at our Military Logistic Department form  Fort Belvoir, U.S. Army base crated and ready to go. The Logistic Department will deliver the car to your home so the shipping is free for you. Since the car is in a military base, with no access you can not go there and take it, only the Logistic Department can deliver it, because the car is in their custody.Shipping may take anywhere between 2 to 3 business days depending on the destination. All the documents you need for ownership; title, manuals and the bill of sale, etc.. will be provided along with the vehicle ( title and the bill of sale will be notarized by a notary public ).You will have 7 business days for inspection. If the vehicle is not like described you will have to ship it back at the end of the 7 business days,on my expense and have your money back from eBay.Now if you really want to buy my vehicle please send me your full name full shipping address and phone #  so I can open a case with eBay.After that you will receive a invoice from eBay with all the necessary steps to complete this transaction.I have a few guys interested so I will need a prompt answer from you!

Corporal Mariana Hoskins,

As I know the time is of the upmost importance to you, seeing that you're about to leave to risk your life for this country, I would like to know what form of payment you would like so then I can get the money to you soon. Is this your first deployment? You must be so courageous to go out and fight for our country at the expense of your life.

Please let me know how you would like me to send the money to you.

Happy to hear that, you need to go at the nearest CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid or Walgreens and buy 3 Ebay Gift cards of $500 and send the code of the back of cards to eBay to confirm your payment. Don't add the Ebay Gift codes on you Paypal account. Please include in your next email your contact info  for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so we can move forward with this transaction.

Mariana Hoskins,

I went to Walgreens to get the gift cards, but they only had $10 eBay gift cards left, so I got 150 of them. I hope that that's okay? I can give all of the codes for them. I assume that eBay will be able to combine them together. It makes sense that I shouldn't put them in PayPal, because then they couldn't be combined. I'll send the codes in the next email. Thank you so much for your patience.

With the best regards,

I continue to get numerous phone calls from this phone number: 270-775-0064. The last call came was Oct 21st at 3:03 pm. The female voice called me by name and said this was a sales call. I told her I was not interested and take me off the list and hung up on her. I blocked the number. I did a Google search of 270-775-0064 and it comes up as a scammer number. Ten other numbers are listed: 270-775-0059/0060/0061/0062/0063/0064/0065/0066/0067/0068/0069/0070. I have received calls from 270-775-0059 which I blocked after telling this woman to take me off the list. All these numbers are from Beaver Dam, KY.

You can offer them a minimum of 100 dollars. They ask for you to go to Western Union or Moneygram to flip it to where you get more money from it.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

I received a call from this number and they claimed to be from Publishers Clearing House and that I won 3.5 million dollars and a brand new Mercedes Bens. The caller gave me a confirmation number and asked if I would prefer private or public UPS delivery for my winnings today. He then gave me a fake delivery confirmation number and the name Ms. Mary Jones for the supposed delivery person. Then he said I had to go to Walmart to get a Tax Registration Receipt and pay $500 today. He then said he would wait for me to get ready to go to Walmart and he would stay on the phone for me. I told him I would not be paying anything and hung up.

Type of a scam Tech Support

I got SCAMMED by a company called Computer Repairs and Services Inc. yesterday.

There is apparently now "VOICE SPAM" which I was not aware of. This voice come over my computer saying my computer had been hacked, to not touch it and not turn it off and to call a phone number immediately. I stupidly thought it was something from Apple so I made the call and these guys acted like they were Apple technicians. I fell hook line and sinker for the whole deal. They "looked up" my warranty and told me it had run out so I would have to pay for them to fix my computer which they said they could do online.

I sent them money through an echeck and then let them into my computer via remote access. I am so embarrassed. As far as I know they downloaded everything on it to a remote hard drive. I have everything on that computer - including my social security number.

After I figured out what happened I froze my all my banking accounts and changed all my important passwords and then I got on the phone with the real Apple, who from remote removed everything the crooks had put on my computer. I also stopped payment on the echeck they convinced me to send.

Also, I believe the address in Pittsburg is a sham. Nothing turned up on the internet. That is the phone number I called, though, so it should be valid.  Amount was $699.98.  Company Info: Computer Repairs and Services, Inc., 5877 Commerce St., Pgh, PA 15241

Type of a scam Romance

Met this person on an online dating site. He started talking about romance right away. He kept telling how much he needed me. We kept texting each other for 6 days. On the 6th day, he said he was in a financial bind and needed my help. He asked me for a loan to help bridge the budge to finish the project. Of course, he promised to pay back the personal loan. I refused to do that but he kept harassing me to please try to help him. I tried the website he gave me. The links to social media do not work. I believe the website is fake. The privacy policy link at the bottom of the page does not work. You click on it and it goes back to the home page. No privacy policy. The names on the tab of our story has pictures of the men who is suppose to be the president and ceo of the company. Can't find the names on a people search, neither the man who has been flirting with me. He is considered the construction manager. He kept avoiding my questions about him getting a line of credit. He used me by telling me how much he loves me and wants me in hopes to get money out of me.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

Received an email stating I had won a prize and was asked to enter my shipping address. Completed and received confirmation that my prize would be sent to me. This morning I received an email stating that it was an error and that I would not be receiving anything. The second email stated that as compensation they would enter me in a different draw to win 100 nail polish shades. They took my personal information and used it to enter me in another 'draw' without my consent (which will likely also be a scam). I read 100's of Facebook reviews on their Facebook page (***/posts/) of people who received the same fraudulent email with the same scam practices being used.
