Type of a scam Travel/Vacations

Claimed to be a part of Delta Air Lines and charged $300 for rescheduling canceled flight. Our flight booked through Delta Air Lines was delayed, needing rescheduling. We looked up the Delta Air Line phone number and the first number that came up was 844-894-7956. We called the number and they said that they were a part of Delta Air Lines. They charged us $300 for rescheduling the flight, and cautioned us not to go to the airport to talk to a Delta agent. The agent from the number that we called claimed to be Daren French with the email address [email protected] Upon considering the details it did not feel right and we traveled to the airport to talk to a Delta representative and found out that the number and agent were not associated with Delta Airlines in anyway. The delta agent called the number and they hung up as soon as they found out that it was a Delta representative calling them. The Delta agents called called again, and Daren French ended up refunding the $300. Delta Air Lines were able to rebook our flight for free, as a part of their regular service. Although the Delta Air Lines agent was able to fix the issue, we believe that Daren French claiming to be a Delta agent to rebook our flight for a fee is a scam. Upon searching the phone number, we found several websites using the number to pose as airlines such as Delta, United, Air Canada and American Airlines, including the FareBirds website that looks to be not operating. We also found the number to be connected to websites https://www.delta-airlines-deals.com, https://www.allegiantairlines-reservations.com, https://www.united-airlinesreservations.com, https://www.american-airlines-reservations.com/, https://www.aircanadaairlinesflights.com. They should not be allowed to operate in this manner.

WELL THESE PEOPLE KEEP CALLING SAYING THEY WANT TO GIVE ME A REFUND FOR SERVICES I WAS SCAMMED OUT OF -- I WAS NOT RECIEVING THAT I PAID FOR -- TODAY THEY SAID THEY WERE PART OF THE BBB AND WANTED ME TO FILL OUT A FORM ONLINE TO GET THE REFUND. BUT THEY HAD TO CONNECT MY SYSTEM TO THE BBB WEBSITE VIA REMOTE CONTROL SOFTWARE. CAUTIOUSLY - I DID. THE MADE A FORM APPEAR ON MY SYSTEM THAT HAD THE BBB LOGO AND EVERYTHING.

THEY THEN CHANGED THE AMOUNT ON THE FORM TO READ THAT I WAS ASKING FOR WAS 4999 INSTEAD OF THE 499 I PUT ON THERE WHICH THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT I WAS SCAMMED OUT OF. I QUICKLY SHUT DOWN MY COMPUTER AND DELETED THE WEB PAGE FORM AS SOON AS THEY STARTED ACCESSING IT AND CHANGING MY INFO. I HUNG UP AND AFTER THAT I REBOOTED THEN DELETED THE REMOTE SOFTWARE THEY ASKED ME TO DOWNLOAD. LUCKILY I HAD INSTALLED A SOFTWARE PACKAGE CALLED "ESET" THAT PREVENTS RANSOM WARE SO HE COULD NOT HOLD MY MACHINE HOSTAGE AS HE THREATENED TO DO. WHEN I CAUGHT ON TO WHAT HE WAS DOING AND REFUSED TO GO ANY FURTHER.

Type of a scam Government Grant

One of my Facebook friends contacted me via inbox on Facebook. They said my name may be on a list for a FPWA grant. And then they gave me this number 405-252-0273 and told me to text it to ask if my name is still on list. When I text it, the num responded asking for my full name & address. I did text the info to them and then shortly afterwards, I rec'd a msg from Facebook that I requested to change my password but I didn't....so I selected "DO NOT CHANGE" my password. And then I realized I had been scammed. FB did not change my password bc I asked them not to but I proceeded to block that friend as well as that number on my phone.

I was ripped off my someone in Boulder for 2 concert tickets. I contacted this person from Craigslist and paid him for 2 concert tickets via ApplePay (I should have known that I had no recourse using this vs PayPal, etc.). 1 ticket came which was double (or more) sold and 1 ticket never showed up.

I had googled "renew my passport" and was brought to Premier Passport Services' website. I followed the steps on renewing my passport and paid the $89 fee. (I was charged $89 and $40 - I don't even know where or why the $40 was charged). Once I finished paying the renewal charge (or what I thought was the renewal charge) it asked me for another $140.. this is where I called the phone number on the web site right away to cancel, and was given an automated message that, "all agents are busy and to leave a message."

Leave a message, call again, email - no response.. I finally got a call from the company and the representative told me, that I had 72 hours to cancel after purchase, and that it was too late. I then explained, how I was never able to get in contact with anyone to even cancel.. and he told me that I would be charged regardless.

Total scam of a company. Do not use them!

Received a call claiming to be Publishers Clearing House and that I won $2M. They already had my SSN and knew what credit cards I had in my name, and wanted to verify if the cards were all paid off. They provided an ATC# ***, Tracking # *** and PIN *** for the payment. I went to the post office and they said it was a scam so I stopped answering their phone calls, but they have continued to call me non-stop until I had to change my phone number.

My technician from Dell suggested I report this incident to the Cleveland BBB. I have a new computer from Dell. Included with the new software is security protection from McAfee. A flash came on my screen from Advanced System Repair, claiming to be part of McAfee. The advice was to run the program immediately because of warnings. I ran the scan. The scan then went to a screen to sign up for this Advanced System Repair. They wanted immediate payment to complete the procedure.

Instead of signing on, I closed the internet and called Dell Technical Support as I know that McAfee was already paid up for one year. They advised me and removed the software that ASR installed to run the scan. The technician was releived that I did not sign on to pay with a credit card and said that I should report it.
