Clearly foreign accent claiming to be calling from Microsoft Computer Support about a problem with your computer. The call seemed to be similar to the common "Yes" scam. Asking questions hoping for the caller to say "Yes." They did not know my name.

Received a phone call from a number I did not recognize, said hello, they asked if Clifford was there, I said yes, who is asking, then they hung up. Suspect they will use my voice to authorize a card or something using my credit.

Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

Person called (I think it might have been a robocall but I am not sure) and a woman giggled and said "are you there" as if she was fumbling with a headset. There was also a hesitation. I said yes and then the voice said I had stayed at one of their resorts and won...I hung up so I don't know who they were with or if it was a scam to get me to say yes or just trying to get me to enter a sweepstakes. Number showed up as if it was coming from our small town of Lebanon.

Person said her name is Emily and at the beginning of the call apologized that her headphone slipped and asked if I could her. I answered "I can hear you' (did not say yes). She went into a description of a too good to be true vacation package being offered to me because of a resort that I stayed in before in Orlando and then asked if she could transfer me to get whole vacation package set up for me. I said No and asked what hotel was it that I stayed in that is offering this. At this point she hung up. I called the number back but it said the number was not in service. The number that called 1-609-319-9847. I received this call on my cell phone. I also received this same call on my land line phone a week before but hung up.

Received a call from my grandson that he was in Henry County Jail. He said his sister had passed away and he went to the funeral and then went out drinking with friends and got in a wreck. He said he has a broken nose and is being charged for DUI. He said the public defender was going to call to collect bail. A few minutes later I received a call from the public defender, Jimmy, to collect the $1,000. I asked which grandson he was calling about and he hung up on me.

A guy called today (4/4/2017). I asked who he was and he said Kevin.

I asked "Kevin who?" He said "Kevin Me" and then "Is this Robert?"

Without thinking I said "Yes" and immediately thought I should have just hung up as I had heard of a scam like this a while back.

I was called on my cell phone about 4pm 4/4/17:

"Hi, this is Josh. Can you hear me OK?"

I did not answer because I had heard of a scam to record your "yes" to use against you somehow later.

They continued:

"You have been selected for a free cruise" or something like that. I hung up.

Since this seems to be a known scam, I wanted to report my instance so you could have a gauge of where and how prevalent this is occurring.

Received a call from a phone number I did not recognize. There was a pause after I said 'Hello,' and I repeated 'Hello.' Then a man said, 'Hello, I'm just calling to say sorry, OK?' I believe he was wanting me to say 'OK' or 'yes.' I just hung up. A co-worker of mine received a similar call yesterday where the caller asked 'Can you hear me?' and then hung up after my co-worker said 'Yes.'

Male caller with east Indian accent begins by saying he is calling on behalf of your existing phone company to offer a savings of 30% off of your current long distance package for a full 12 months for customer appreciation month.

He then will get his fake manager on the line with him and she asks a series of 'yes' questions such as: are you the primary holder of this account? Are you authorized to make changes on this account? Are you over 18? What is your birthday? Email address? She is female with a heavy east Indian accent as well.

He will give a bogus 1800 number with his extention and when you call it is not in service. He will say it's because the line is in use by another customer. He will also provide you with a fake employee I.d. number starting with BG and his alias is Mike.

He says he represents reliant long distance company and works in tandem with your current phone company to offer a discounted long distance package.
