Asked if my name was "Angie" when I said yes he said oh maybe this is the wrong Angie are you in Colorado. I say no and he hung up. Was from a local Washington area code. The phone call felt confusing and when finished it seemed like a scam. Tried to call number back but straight to voicemail. Concerned for the "yes" confirmation fraud that was happening in February.

I received a call on my cell phone. A lady spoke - sounded human at first but it became evident that it was a robot after a few seconds. It pauses and waits for a response. Then it starts to talk. It asked if I was the homeowner. I stupidly said yes. It started to talk about homeownership and that I was going to be transferred to a loan officer standing by. Then I hung up.

Caller asked "Is Jonathan there?"

I responded, "Yes, this is Jon."

Caller hung up - I suspect that they recorded the "Yes" and will try to use it to claim I authorized some kind of charge or fee.

It was an automated message of a woman asking me if I could hear her? She claimed that she was putting her headset on. I was told that I had stayed at one of their hotels and was being given a free stay. I hung up once she said this because I realized it was a scam. However, I did respond "yes" to being able to hear her because I was expecting an important phone call promptly at 9am and that is exactly when I got the scammer call. This was my second time getting this phone call in the last two months.

They are offering Duke Energy customers 20% off their bill. When asked why, they offer that it is due to an increase in use of energy across the area resulting in lower rates. They ask for your bill and even offer to contact Duke Energy for you to get your bill information.

Type of a scam Tech Support

This person, with an Indian accent, has called numerous times asking me if my computer is on and wanting me to go to my computer. He says someone is downloading information on my computer and that he needs to clear it of all this.

This morning at 7:45 a.m. he called – for the fourth time over the past week –

I told him that it is not even 8:00 in the morning!

I asked him where he is located. He said New York.

According to the caller ID the phone number from which he was calling is in Louisiana.

I am being harassed and resent it. Also I think he has access to my computer which for some time has had

hundreds of email addresses that do not belong to me.

I think he wants more information from my computer.

I had asked him more than once to put my name on his Do NOT CALL List.

All to no avail.

I did not lose money. The scammer did not attempt to take money during the telephone call.

However, I am certain that the goal of this scam was to get access to my computer and thereby steal information from which he would profit financially.

A male and female in their mid-forties, brandishing IRS badges, arrived at our home at 9:30am on Monday, April 10th, 2017. My husband answered the door, speaking with them outside on the porch. They asked for me by name. My husband said I was not at home, and they asked him where I was. He told them I was at work, but refused to tell them my work address when they asked. (The real IRS already knows where everyone works.) Then they asked when I'd be home, and my husband refused to answer, saying he was never sure. My husband was suspicious of a scam and was very uncooperative [censored]equently they seemed to lose interest and walked back to their car, which was parked across the street, got in and drove away.

I have contacted the IRS with this information, and they asked me to report it, that it is most certainly a scam. They want to get the information out to the public in this area so that they can be on alert.
