Type of a scam Government Grant

tells me I have been selected to receive a grant of $9700.00 because I have paid my bills and don't have any outstanding debt. i have received this call every day for about two weeks. I have talked a couple of times and just been short with them to see exactly what they are trying to offer and how. one time i was angry and told them not to call back and that I was going to report them. I continue to get this call. they will call many times during one day until I answer. Hey, if it's legit, I'm in! But we all know nothing is free and no one is going to call me about free money. Please help get rid of these people that dope innocents. Also, i tried to call back the number and of course says this number is no longer in service...but it is the same number used in every call.

My personal cell phone was called four times yesterday afternoon and again this morning. The message left on my phone stated, "So before we go as a legal matter and send this case to the local county courthouse kindly call us back on our number which says 201-331-3134 thank you and good bye."

When I returned the call, the man who answered never asked me to confirm who I was, but immediately starting threatening legal action. I asked who I was speaking to, and he said, "Victor". He said the law suit was due to mispayment of income taxes between 2012-2016. I asked him who he was referring to and he gave me a name that sounded like Casey Courtman. I said that was not me. I asked for the address, and he quickly read off a street address and the city of Durham, NC. I stated again, this is not me. That is not my name and I do not live in Durham, NC. I asked what number he was trying to reach, and the first phone number he gave I stated was not my number. He then gave my cell phone number, so I asked to be taken off his contact list. The call abruptly ended.

Type of a scam Employment

I was emailed that my resume was seen on Arizona job link and that the company was looking for immediate hires. A time was set up for a briefing about the company and job and that they were looking for 16 people to hire because they would be opening a few branches in the near future near my area. I interviewed through instant message on google hangouts. I was told that each day at 8am I was told to go to google hangouts for daily updates of what needed to be done to get me set up to work from home. They said I would receive a check and I was to deposit it into my bank account and then I was to deduct $150 from it for my sign on bonus. The remainder of the money was to be used to purchase the software needed for the job. Once the funds of the check have cleared they will tell me how to purchase the software through their vendor. They asked me to email a copy of the deposit slip and the bank receipt which I did, but I blacked out my personal bank account information to be safe. I thought that to be odd. I noticed that none of the email links are the same either. Usually in a business everyone has the same email link. The website claims they have offices around the world. They also appear to be on the stock exchange. When I called one of the phone numbers, it said there was an error. I am not sure if this is a scam but there are a few red flags.

I received a phone call on our cell phone this morning where a recorded female voice said 'your application for Federal Student Loan Forgiveness is about to expire". Of course no one in our family has ever had a federal student loan and they are trying to get personal information. I hung up at that point and added that phone number to my automatic reject list on my cell phone.

Type of a scam Government Grant

I received a call from a man named Freddy Johnson and he told me I had been approved to receive an $8,000 grant from the Federal Government. It sounded suspicious because I had not applied for a grant and years ago I used to work for the Federal Government. He gave me a website and told me I would need to pay $200. I was not willing to give any info by phone so I was asked to go to Walmart and get a check there or go to Walgreens and get some sort of gift card.

I received a call asking for my mother. I responded and told them that I was her daughter, and what did they need? They said that "this has to do with outdated insurance." I told them that she had passed and that I would be happy to show them a Death Certificate, at which point they hung up on me.

It was such a strange interaction that I reported it to the BBB.

Victim Location 86403
Type of a scam Phishing received a call from a consumer reporting he got a call from "*** ***" stating they need to reset his TV satellite equipment. There was no phone number showing where the call came from - only "private number". The caller had a very thick accent. The address given by the caller was a prior address for the consumer - not his current address. He hung up the phone and called *** and they stated his equipment was fine and they had not called him.

Type of a scam Employment

I applied to an administrative position on indeed and received a reply telling that job was taken but they could offer me another position. I was asked to email them if I was interested. I told them I was interested since I was qualified for the position they offered. I got a feeling something was off so I emailed the company directly giving the details I received and asked if it was a legitimate offer only to find it wasn't. The fake company emailed me again saying they would test my loyalty by sending me a cashier's check to deposit and dispense as they directed but could keep $300 as a sign on bonus.
