I was contacted by a gentleman named John Warner who said he found my resume through Indeed.com and asked if I was still interested in applying for a remote position. When I confirmed, he told me that the company was hiring for three different positions which would all be remote and that he would put me in contact with Lana Ananich, the HR Manager of the organization.

I had an hour-long interview over the phone with Lana and I was told they would contact me shortly. Later, I was told I was accepted for one of two Administrative Assistant positions. I was sent a confirmation of hire letter through the email address [email protected] and was told by Lana that she would be sending me the paperwork to fill out for the position. After going through all these steps, Lana then said I would need additional equipment for the position and that they would email me a check. I would need to print the check out, both sides, cut it to check size and shape, then download it to my account via my bank app. The check was for over $2,000.

The most frustrating and frightening part is that this is a real company with a real person named Lana Ananich who has a LinkedIn profile and everything and someone used real credentials to back up their scam. I sincerely hope no one else experiences this.

Hi! I got contacted by the same person just this morning. I'm so glad I decided to look him up, because the way he immediately used my legal first name was petrifying enough, but to find out that he is a scam is even more so. I'm not the best when it comes to social cues/situations, so it's definitely helpful when there are resources for fact and scam checking. So, thank you for spreading the information.

Tried to have me deposit an unknown check . Hiring people like she works for the company and trying to compromise information

This person contacted me saying the same thing; however this time his name was John Blasiman. He put me in contact with the same person just yesterday. And she just told me that she will be emailing me a check to deposit into my Chase account. I researched the Lana Ananich person and she was real so I ALMOST thought it was legit til I ran across this post.
