I received the following email, unsolicited. It claimed to have found me via LINKEDIN. I received a few more emails detailing the secret shopper process and assignments. This week, I received a letter in the mail containing an assignment to buy 5 $500 gift cards at the Apple Store, Walmart or Best Buy, and a check for almost $2800. There was no return address on the envelope, and the check was issued by "NEWSLINK OF BOSTON, LLC" and had a Miami, Florida mailing address imprinted on the check. This seems obviously fraudulent, and doing a little research on ScamPulse.com and Google, I found this is quite common.

ATTN: PLEASE GET READY FOR THE FIRST ASSIGNMENT,,

Just like business intelligence systems summarize financial performance data, customer intelligence gives companies a single, financially accountable view of all their customer-related information and product enhancement. The evaluation process is like a project meant to run within a time frame which must be completed ASAP. Every transaction has its unique value which solely depends on how keen and committed the survey is well received.

Below is the expected task brief/breakdown as its required diligence with total commitment and excellent delivery to impress the assessment unit for reference.

You will be evaluating your bank and any of these stores { Apple Store - Walmart - Best-buy } at your preferred location. Their Store Service's is one of a kind with outlet nationwide to cater for fast and reliable Electronic/communication service. The management of the above mentioned stores has been heavily criticized for slow delivery, which some customers tagged as "Snail Service". It is your duty as an evaluator to thoroughly examine their shoddy service which has been under scrutiny by the general public.

We presumed their service should be one of the best if not the best, but due to nonchalant and carefree attitude of some of their personnel regarding their services, is now a problem,many customers complain that those deadlines often come and go with no sign of an email from those stores services, and in some cases, customers have to wait many days past the original deadline for their devices to be ready for pickup and also consumer's complaints how they lost their fund when they want to redeem the "GIFT CARDS" without replacement due to poor costumer service. We are worried about the costumers complaints, amidst heavy government funding to subsidize their cost of operation of their service still fall short of quality customer relation.

We observed bulk of the personnel recruited are rather incompetent, unqualified and unmotivated due to poor training. We therefore encourage you to critically analyze their mode of operations on how best to improve their services and customer relation.

Important notice: We have an assignment for you in the next 24-72hrs and It is in-transit via USPS to your address submitted to us. You shall be in receipt of the evaluation package and a full instruction of what to do will be emailed to you to keep you updated. You will be evaluating any of those { Apple Store - Walmart - Best-buy } in your Area of your choice. You will need to be conscientious, articulate and be able to recognize great service.

Kindly follow the brief as instructed when you visit the Apple store.

You must memorize key points, e.g. staff name, location of toilets etc.

Do not use leading questions. This will restrict the level of service the staff are able to provide. However, if you find that the staff member is not forthcoming, then you need to ask questions to trigger a more in-depth conversation.

You must be objective.

All staff have the opportunity to question the reports and therefore the information you provide must be 100% accurate.

Relax, act normally, and do not draw attention to yourself.

Take notes as soon as possible so that you can complete your evaluation form.

Endeavor to check your email INBOX/SPAM for the subsequent updates as regards to the evaluation task and please be reminded to discreetly observe the task and desist from attracting attention to prevent unnecessary interrogation during the course of your survey..
