Anthem Inc.Imposter Reports & Reviews (27)

The guy contacts me and takes a full interview. Also sends me an ID to prove he is not scamming me. I avoided him for a while and when he called me I figure out it is a scam, big time. His accent was southern, while ID he provided was not his.

They almost had me. Just as I received my check in the mail and while getting ready to head to the bank my gut told me to google Sarah Austin and this site came up. I’m so thankful I did because I don’t know what the outcome would’ve been had I deposited this check to my accounts. Below I have a few photo from my transaction with Sarah I have blocked her on MS Teams since. When I failed to reach the Ms teams chat in time Sarah called and the person sounded like a Jamaican. I can say that because I’m also an islander so I know.

Been applying for a lot of jobs and it seemed to good to be true. Was actually supposed to jump on another Microsoft Teams meeting this morning. Don’t think I will make that one. Attached is the letter I received to verify my acceptance of employment.

I received the same email as the other posters. Went through the entire "interview" process and what do you know? I was hired on the spot! Flag number one. They also asked about how I would like to get paid. Although they did not ask me any personal banking information, they did ask what bank I used. On my second chat they said I would receive a check via email that I could print out and deposit to purchase new computer equipment. Flag number two. I was also sent a confirmation of employment letter and it was signed by a gentleman, who when I googled him and saw his profile on LinkedIn, had no affiliation with Anthem. When I checked on Sarah Austin, the woman who I've allegedly been communicating with, it didn't appear she was affiliated with Anthem either. But the biggest red flag is my gut. It just didn't seem legitimate. I'm not comfortable giving someone who I've never seen and probably will never see, my social security information and bank account numbers. Besides, how can I be a "receptionist" by working from home...

I have been applying for many different remote position online and I was happy to receive the email that I have copied below. I then went through the entire “interview” and was told I was hired. Everything seemed legitimate until they told me that they would be sending me a check via FedEx and to deposit it into my bank account for a program that I would need to put on the computer that they would be providing me. I should have known something was not right when I noticed grammatical errors, but I was giving them the benefit of doubt that it could be someone who may not know a lot of English, because I have spoken with quite a few legitimate companies that employ foreign born people. The second thing that I thought was a little off was they asked what position I would like and how often I wanted to get paid (weekly/bi-weekly) when they had already told me I would be paid bi-weekly, but again I thought past that. I guess I am so desperate for a remote job that I didn’t listen to my own instincts.

Please help stop this from happening to others.

I have attached as much of the interview as this site would let me.

I had applied for numerous positions lately and was curious so I downloaded the app. Started talking with "Sarah Austin". They are very thorough and seem legit, however for me the first red flags were several grammatical errors. Then came the pay $35 for a Data Entry job. I haven't applied much for Data Entry yet, but that seemed like a lot. Then I asked her to show me the posting that I applied for or direct to me to it, because I was pretty sure I was applying only for part time jobs and she was telling me this was full time. She then said that Zip Recruiter sent her my resume, that's how they found me. And as she said that my husband was reading this page. I ended the chat and deleted the app. Luckily I had not sent any information to them. Be aware that most companies are going to want to speak to you on the phone too. She hired me after about 30 minutes. All the text was cut and paste except questions that I randomly asked. Be safe people :)

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Was contacted by text and then continued the conversation by zoom chat. Was promised a part-time work-from-home job. They only got my name, address and phone. They said they were going to send me all of this equipment and then a check to pay for software. I questioned them and they said it was a test to see if they could trust me with money and finances. I felt like I was talking to a computer or a foreign person using transcription software. I fell for it for a while, but wised up soon enough before any damage done, thank God.

I was contacted by a Leah Stark via Zoom messenger. She said the interview would be through the messenger, which I thought was strange but I know companies are thinking of new ways to make things easier or convenient so I went with it. The most she go from me was my name, address and phone number. After a day she told me I got the position and kept telling me how much I would be making an hour. Not only that, but she referred to herself in the third person, as well as using incorrect punctuation. But what REALLY made me question this is that this person offered to send me a check before even starting the job asked if I was good with company finances. I’m just so disappointed that with the hardships people are facing with employment, someone has the audacity to not only play with their emotions but take money. I’m telling everyone about this scam, I still have the whole conversation on my phone.
I can’t believe people put this much energy into this.

Spot on about the positions. I had someone name Eugene texting me, then on SIGNAL APP Graham Belton. Sent me employee forms and everythinggg. What's fishy was that in the DIRECT DEPOSIT form it asks for username, password and security question/answer? They make you go through this "interview" process all to out themselves when it came down to the papers

I received this same offer. I was so excited and thought finally after 3 months of dedicated search for a job . The dream job was presented. I called Anthem directly and contacted the Real Leah Stark and calles the non emergency police number for advice and turned the check information over to the bank and the police .Its really awful how people are.

By the way the #862-286-0738
Email: [email protected]

"Hired" via flimsy "interview" process

Initial contact from "recruiter"
[email protected] (The google contact name was [email protected])
[email protected] was used for the zoom "interview". I was asked for address information to send a check for "purchase of office equipment."

From the Anthem website:

"Please be advised that Anthem will never ask you for a credit card, send you a check, or ask you for any type of payment as part of consideration for employment with our company. "
'Williams Oscar,' fake Leah Stark, chat 'interview'

Just got scammed, I was lucky my Check wasn’t getting deposited because it didn’t get here till Saturday night. They use a real picture from Linkdin, Leah Stark from Anthem Inc. everything seems legit until I realized the check was fake and the address that it came from is not a real accounting department. I asked them to send me the equipment and I will then send the money to see what happens but I believe it will not be happening any time soon. Anything without a real person talking to you is a SCAM.

No its not going to happen . I spoke to the real Leah Stark. I contacted the bank the check was written from and i call the non emergency number for the police and asked for advice and gave them the check. .Something has to be done about these people taking advantage of people who are really trying to find jobs etc.. If all my efforts help none or one i am happy i tried

I was hired on through via Hangouts and best believe they really had me fooled with there fake interview and responses , I was referred by a Lady name Natasha Gilbert we are in Texas was messaging when I started to feel suspicious. But she assured me! I just got scammed for 450 dollars to a $PattiGarretson on cash app! I am on the phone now with my bank to see if I can get my money back!

Wants me to have funds inserted into my bank account to buy office supplies to work for them for data entry.

Caller ID showed "Anthem". Since we had an active Blue Cross Blue Shield Anthem account we answered the phone. Computerized voice indicated this call was being recorded and asked "Is this (Name)?". We answered "Yes" then caller asked for year of birth and thinking it was our insurance company answer the year of birth...then became suspicious and hung up.

The scammer texted me to ask about a job interview. "I'm Micheal Clarke from Anthem Inc. Our recruitment team viewed your resume published online via indeed The job positions currently available are: Data Entry / Customer Service Administrative Assistant/ Finance & Accounting-Full Time/ Part Time) Please reply if you are still Interested!" i agreed "OK! You have been selected for our online Screening Interview via Telegram Messenger app Are you familiar with Telegram?" i agreed "Okay! You are to set up an account with your Contact number / name and add up the Hiring Manager Mrs Leah Stark via this link (https://t.m********************)

or via the phone number (+1 5*********) Message her now for the Job Interview!"

then i followed the link to telegram. They then proceeded to conduct an interview over telegram. asked name, address, wpm, when i graduated. Gave the company website. they said i was hired and was to wait for them to mail me a check to deposit so i can buy my supplies to get started with training and report in at 8am the next day. I reported in and they said to deposit the check for $9,800 and send a pic of the bank receipt, I did and my bank locked it for 15 days. they said to wait until it unlocked, the next day they asked if any was unlocked/ available, i said $225. (see inserted pic). after they asked to have me buy gift cards i got suspicious and asked why, they said it was for a time tracker and i said no. they then asked if i had cash app or zelle , i said no and proceeded to call my bank and have them cancel the check.

I received a similar text yesterday. “Hello good day ,I am Mrs. Nancy Moore one of the Online hiring recruiter of ANTHEM INC!. We wish to inform you that your resume which was posted has been reviewed and it has been successfully approved for an online screening/interview..Your online supervisor will be available to discuss the Job detail, pay scale, and briefing about the company..I need you to reply back with (YES I AM) if interested.THANK YOU!” I let them know I was interested. I then received this reply, “ The position available are: Accounting Clerk/Data Entry/Receptionist/Customer service/Administrative Assistant job/Payroll Clerk/Executive Assistant/IT Manager/Cashier Rep/Human Resources/Business Development manager/Legal Assistant/Medical Billing/Medical Assistant-Receptionist.
Which of the available position do you derive the most pleasure when performing the Job Duties ?” At this point I start to feel like something is off, the wording of the question, the fact that they are letting me choose which position I’m interested in. I
proceeded on, letting them know I was interested in Human Resources, at which time they immediately ask me to have an interview with the HR manager via Skype, mind you this is 6PM on a Saturday night with no prior arrangement to have this interview. I told them I couldn’t proceed with the interview since I was not currently home.

So glad I found the information on this site before I wasted my time or money on these [censored].

I needed a job so I signed up with all the recruiting company’s advertising on the internet. Received an invitation for a job thru an online request. Job was from Anthem, Inc. I opened the app “Wire” as directed, and that is the only place we talked. After several days of them bull, they finally laid the bomb that: I needed to give them $500 to pay to have the license keys opened on the computer they were going to send me. When I said I had no money they said “how about $200?” Then I knew for sure it was a scam. The man’s name online was Antonio Dante.

A person named "Jessica Aguilar" claiming to be a hiring supervisor from Anthem Inc, reached out to me via email, with a job offer/interview, she conducted an interview via Telegram. Shortly after completing interview, the HR department decided to give me an job opportunity. Next emailed me a job offer/contract letter, and to buy a itue card for the amount of $50.00 for my time tracker program, and that she was sending me a check to buy my office supplies, 2 days later I received a check from a company that doesn't do any type of business with Anthem Inc, and now she wants me to deposit the check into my personal account and send her a picture of the deposit. Probably so they'll have my account details and information.

Plus you will have a returned check charge

I was looking for a job on indeed and applied for a at home job was contacted by someone from Anthem Inc everything is done by hangout. I was accepted to do a interview and application information ask for bank account information to set up direct deposit. Then I was told that I need a lab top and supplies for this job OK no problem. I was send a check to my account than was ask to go to Walmart and buy gift cards to send to some vendor. When I see a red flag I contacted them through hangout and ask why gift card not a cashier's check. So they won't me to send money in gift cards to a vendor and I don't even know the name. They will not give me the name of the person. I asked for human resource personnel so I can asked if I'm employee and why do I need to send money to vendor when you are the company. I was told to this once to show trust and then the manger or the human resource will contact me after my task is completed.

I received a computerized call stating that they had good news for me. I called the number back and it stated that I was the winner of a $100 Walmart gift card. I then hung up the phone. The next day, Saturday, August 24th, the business called back, but just said to press "1"., they had my first and last name. I called Anthem to see if this was true, and they told me that they would notify me by mail about my Anthem account.
