Credit Settlement

Sent me an mail saying their company settled with my credit cards and I have to respond to get a settlement. If I don't respond, my debt will grow at an "unreasonable" rate.

Got the same letter, with NO return address, and no address on the bottom of the letter. It's Saturday, so I tried to call. Got a live person, who said she only takes the responses from the mailing, and then calls the actual company! Tried to get my number, told her I would call on Monday. Shredded the mail, and my cell phone is a Google pixel with great blocking installed. Let them call!

The 1st notice worried me for a second so I asked my bank if this seemed legit, of course, they said no, don't trust it. I received a 2nd notice today and googled the address provided in the letter, on google maps the location is a gas station. Definitely tossing these out from now on!

Hello. I received a letter on January 13, 2020. The letter stated that it was from the “Negotiations Department” asking me to call their office at 800-536-0431 within 10 days to adjust my credit accounts. The letter further explained that "our firm has settled accounts" with numerous banks, and that I may be entitled to a settlement of my outstanding credit balance. I was also given a reference number to refer to when I called. The fine print at the bottom of the letter listed the name “Nationwide Financial Services”. I did not follow up with the letter because I don't know this company nor did I reach out to them for assistance.

They will send a very generic letter listing every major bank, hoping you use one of them and give them a call to settle your debt. They have no return address and insist you call their number. I did not call the number as I figured something was off when I noticed how vague the info was and no return address,

Received a letter in the mail from “Negotiations Department” asking me to call the above number within 10 days to adjust my credit accounts. “Our firm” has settled accounts with numerous banks and I am entitled to a settlement of my outstanding credit balance. Gave me a reference number to refer to when I call. The fine print at the bottom gives the name “Nationwide Financial Services” in San Diego, CA.

I’ve been getting letters in the mail that look exactly like the pictures above from Richardson Texas. I get no calls, no emails just mail. I also have no reports on my credit about missing any payments.

I got a neat replica letter in the mail like others. While I do have a good amount of credit card debt, and I do have cards with some of the banks, I was confused as to who was trying to contact me. There are no official company logos on the letter, indicating a debt relief program. There is no name for who I’m even suppose to ask for when I call in, like what the hell is your company even called? Wanted to google this for more info anyways, and definitely looks like a scam. I almost want to call just to mess with them lmao. There is also NO RETURN ADDRESS or official stamp on the envelope it arrived in. Just a blank envelope. So where is this sketchy business even located? Seriously, I know minimum wage in the U.S. sucks, but people need to get a 9-5 job instead of compromising their integrity.

I got the same letter it's a Scam!

Received a vague letter in the mail saying it was from the "Negotiations Department". There is no actual business listed, no address provided. It claims their "firm" recently settled accounts with Bank of America, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, American Express, Capital One, Discover, HSBC, Target, GE Money. If you have an account with these or other Lenders, you may be entitled to a stetlement of your outstanding balance. It even has a "Failure to respond" message. This is a classic scam, they list every common banking institution they know in order for someone to panic and give out private information. Total phishing scam. Idk how they got some of my private information like my name and address, that peeves me a lot. It was sent in a blank envelope that anyone could have sent out at home.

I’ve received letters and phone calls saying I owe money when I don’t have any open credit cards or loans with these institutions

Received 2 identical letters saying same thing. Each letter had different number. Claims to be a negotiation department servicing Discover, Wells Fargo, Bank of America Capital One and American Express. No Business name or address shown. No email address.

Same as previous posters. Generic letter, no company names or logos. Says they "recently settled accounts with: Bank of America, Citibank, JP Morgan, Chase, Wells Fargo, American Express, Capital One, Discover, HSBC, Target, GE Money. Mention of a possible "settlement of your outstanding balance." Vague threats about not calling.

Basically, no company information anywhere, no proof of anything, just a basic phishing form letter.

I received the same letter with all major credit card companies listed. I am not in default of any cards nor have I been so 'luckily' before I called I checked online. 100% found this was a scam. The letter was exactly what several have posted. Bold 'failure to respond' in the middle. Please destroy this letter! Do not call!

I have received a final notice in the mail to contact this place for paying a credit card debt on an unsecured credit card (which I have never owned). Claiming I have $30,000 in debt, and will settle for $15,000. They don't specify which card company the debt is through, instead; they just list ALL major cards and banks at the top of the page, just to increase the odds this would apply to someone. The letter specifically states in the bottom fine-print "this is not a letter from the local, state, or federal government, nor should it be construed as such. Number being used above are only estimates. We are not a collector and/or creditor. We do not assume consumer debt, provide tax accounting, or credit repair services" So, obviously an outright scam. I feel sorry to anyone who falls for it. Their direct address is 1125 E Campbell Rd, Suite 200, Richardson, TX, 75081. Which is the address of a financial department called "DebtBlue". This at least needs to be investigated.

I received a letter from "Negotiations Department," which had a threatening message in it that said I needed to respond within 10 days regarding the adjustments to my credit accounts. I called after receiving my 2nd notice and the representative spoke perfect English (sounded native) and asked for my DOB and last 4 of SSN to confirm my identity, which I stupidly gave out. After reading more online, this is an absolute scam. I now have LifeLock and am monitoring my credit accounts very closely. The phone # that I called was 800-764-8965 and there was a Spanish option 800-576-2172

I received a letter saying my bank sold them my information to collect a debt that I’m currently paying on. My credit is in good standing mind you. The guy was very rude and talked to me like I was some kind of [censored], would not say what business he worked for, it was supposedly called negotiations department! ???? he then got really defensive when I told him he was a scammer.

I received a letter from “Negotiations Department “…stating RE: Discover, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Capital One, Amaerican Express. They stated in the letter it was in regards to a credit settlement. No info. given as to what this credit settle ment was … it only listed a Notice Number; a Notice date of 4/6/2022 and a contact number of 888-822-9247. It also said Failure to respond and making my min. Monthly payment will likely result in interest accruing on my unsecured credit balances at an unreasonable rate/penalties. It also listed a “PROGRAM EXAMPLE” of my payment …please see attached photo of this letter. I have been warned of scams like these and WILL NOT CALL THE 1888 number…

What settlement? This is a total Scam! They don't even have a company name. They lure in by showing . . .
RE: Discover, Wells Fargo. Bank of America, Capital One, American Express as the headline. Then they threaten you with " ** Failure to Respond ** ", and threaten you with interest and penalties. Don't fall for the Scam tactics.
