Insisting on finishing estimate, came in, ‘plugged in numbers’ and price changes to $38,610. I asked about senior discounts, he called boss, boss said no and no available time until July. Guy said no, he will tell me to go to another company because I need roof assp, leaks, (true) and potential damage. Boss says let’s see what i can do… says we can piggyback on another project, using same dumpster and other things. Price will go down to $30,000. But we need it signed tonight so he can send crew to tarp roof till after rains, then complete project. Also need $1000 down, and 50% next day to order materials. Crew is here tarping the roof, someone is coming later to collect material fees. While they are licensed and all, seem ok, I wonder if i was a victim of a bait and switch type of thing. Communication with boss was on speakerphone but I wonder if they had key phrases like he said, I’m at my friend Jennifers house’ …
$30,000 seems high for asphalt at 2398 square feet. Can you please tell me if I was scammed?
