On November 26th, Yahoo notified me of an upgrade to my email that would increase the price $25 per year. If I did not respond to the email by Jan 9th 2022 they would assume I agreed to the price increase. If I responded I could decline the price increase but receive the same services as the upgrade. This sounded ridiculous so I thought it was a phishing scam. I eventually contacted Yahoo who confirmed the offer. Not certain but selling additional services without positive confirmation from the consumer seems illegal.
