The victim applied for a data entry position through "Indeed" website. The scammer made contact with the victim as an employer. The parent company was supposedly "Walnut Equity Partners" of Oklahoma. The employer was supposedly "Liberty Dental Plan of Florida, Inc." Counterfeit checks made payable to the victim, were sent to the victim for the purchase of office equipment the victim was to set up at his home. The victim was instructed to send a large portion of this money from the checks he received, to a "Software Company" who the victim was told would be programming his computers and other equipment. He was instructed to send this money in several different ways. Some via Paypal, Green Dot Cards and Crypto Currency. The checks were eventually found to be counterfeit. Most were in the $7000.00 range, drawn on a City National Bank account for "Liberty Dental Plan of Florida, Inc. 340 Commerce, Suite 100 Ervine, California. The victim actually terminated his current employment to accept this job.

I was reached out to after applying to a job application in Indeed, received an email for interview and asked to download a specific app for communication. The had sent a check to me saying it was to purchase equipment and had me deposit in my account, which because of long time use was available right away. They then had me PayPal and send via Bitcoin to the vendor they claimed was where the equipment would be sent and I was told said equipment was on its way. When I check my bank account for something unrelated I saw the check had bounced and I was now in the hole for the check amount and could no longer contact the people I was speaking with.

I am with law enforcement in Louisiana. My investigators are currently working this exact scam in our jurisdiction. By chance did you report this to your local law enforcement? Our victim is out over $13,000.00.

A job was posted on Indeed from a work from home data entry job. The Indeed website showed it had 700 ish other people that had applied to that job. But I have a degree in IT and knew it was bull[censored] so a quick google showed its a fake so I'm helping report and I'm playing along with the scam and awaiting yall's instructions

They emailed me after the job had been pasted on Indeed.com. They emailed me with information to reach out to a hiring manager, however once I started chatting with the hiring manager they were concerned that the bank I wanted to use for direct deposit was not in line with the companies standard operation.

Received an email about a job interview, email stated they reviewed my resume and application and want an interview. Sent a link to the Signal App and said to message Mrs Yuri Simmons. I downloaded the app and messaged mrs Simmons (hiring/recruiter for Walnut Equity)

The next day I received a message back on the Signal App.

She asked me to state my name and said interview would be conducted over the messaging app. She told my response time was important for the interview.

She then asked about 8-10 interview questions about past employment, education, skills, ability to work from home.

I answered the questions,

After about 5 min she says I’m hired and I was approved by the “upper management” based on my interview response and resume.

She then stated I will need office supplies printer, fax, and computer programs for the job and they would send me a check-

At this point I sent my mailing address,

After I messaged my address, she asked if I’d be home the next day to send the check.

This is where things got sketchy, I stopped replying for about 15-30 min and she would ask if I was “still there” and I don’t have the saved conversation but some of specific words they used weren’t right (nothing terrible, just something people would catch if paying attention).

After this I stopped messaging and blocked and deleted the app.

Haven’t reached out since

I was contacted by these people after applying on Indeed, and I later received an email to my personal email which was on my Indeed. They did a short text interview with me, asking me for some info like phone #, name, email etc. I was accepted with an 8.5 out of 10 points wIth their Head Dept. would use to evaluate workers. I was then asked to return at 9am the next day and they were going to mail a check. The person who contacted me was Mike Sunders and the Recruitment Manager was MaryAnn Reed.
