Type of a scam Employment

I applied for a position at the company PLAYQ after seeing a listing on Indeed. The listing linked back to the company's personal portal which I applied through. Everything seemed legitimate and I heard back after a few days via email with a request for an interview. I was brought to Microsoft Teams where communication began with a supposed HR member who conducted a virtual text based interview of around 10 or so questions. After answering I was told to stay in touch and was asked to give a contact number and business references. The next day I was informed I would recieve a call from someone to discuss the interview and after several hours I recieved a "Scam Likely" call. Skeptical I answered and spoke to a man who told me after a few simple questions that I had recieved the job. After that I was contacted by another person through teams who claimed to be a team director and explained several aspects of the job to me as well as the fact that I would recieve equipment. The next day I recieved an employee sign in agreement and an I-9 form. They also asked me to cash a digital check through my banking app's digital deposit to use to purchase the equipment through one of their verified retailers, explaining that sending the check through the mail wasn't possible due to complications. I had done research over the previous night as I felt something was off and found that this was the same setup used for multiple check phishing scams. I called my bank to be sure and their representative confirmed that the setup was extremely likely to be a scam. I never cashed the check and after calling out the person over microsoft teams I have not heard back since. Still not entirely sure if the company itself is legitimate or not and have not heard back yet from my inquiry through their customer service portal. Given the application I submitted was found on indeed but submitted through their website, I'm guessing it is not.
