Asian sounding person calling himself Tom Brown, Resource manager called to say my wife had been selected to receive a free federal grant of $14,566.00. She had to verify bank account was not negative and she had to purchase a google play card (ding ding) for $300. to verify her identity. Also accepted was an Apple card as they were partners with the federal government. I enlisted help of CVS store manager to convince my wife it was a scam. Called NIH hotline to verify and recorded message was they could not take calls due to partial government shutdown. The caller (Tom Brown) kept insisting his department was not shut down, gave us badge number TB0426 and address of Houston office.

Said his phone number was (469)430-9346.
