I received an unsolicited call asking if I needed any home renovations. I happened to need some handy work so I agreed to have them come take a look. Two men used every tactic in the book to distract me from the topic at hand, push extra renovations on me, ask if I lived alone, then have me sign several contracts which needed my SS#, personal ID and check deposit. They were overly friendly, asking several personal questions to create false sense of trust/bond. I have had to cancel my bank account, freeze my credit because within hours they initiated a hard credit check with my personal info without my consent.
