email to me personally, dated May 6, 2021, Subject: "Your annual subscription-id:#2256-2284691 has been reactivated.

... then, "If you want to modify or cancel the subscription, then please do not hesitate to cal us at (870)227-8654 between 10:00 Am to 6:00 pm."

I did call. Told therm I knoiw nothing of this service for my Dell computer. They instructed me to turn on computer and begin to type in things from Windows... "www.microserverbot.com"... type & click do other things... ready my nine-digit numeric code... type in "help12345"... "Software GmbH" popped up... they remotely had control of my computer...

The guy told me to hang up phone and said his Manager, James Williams, will be calling me back immediately.

So, without disclosing what I was doing, I backtracked out.

I told the new caller who identified himself as James Williams that I have other things to do and needed to go.

He became adamant, stern and asked me where I was going. (Then, other me showed up)

I told him I had exited everything and powered my computer off. He sounded panicky. Asked if he could call me back that evening. I said no, hung up and forwarded their email to the Cleveland BBB, and asked if this was unusual.

In conclusion: I do not ever recall subscribing, nor do I think they have any of my banking information.

I did not sign up for this service, and when I called the number, no support person or company messaging was on the end of the line. Below is the email that was sent to me.

I had a similar email today from Geek-Tech Solutions (GTS) to the other two mentioned here. The email header was “Auto Re-activation Process Completed | $399.99 debited successfully for another 24 months 'AMC' Support < Geek-Tech Solutions”.
The message said, in part, “ We want to notify you that your Computer Annual Maintenance Subscription has renewed successfully, as per contract.”.
There was no call for payment, just a phone number for “queries”. I guess the idea is to get you worried so that you ring them and then they try to get you online (as the others said). It was professional looking email!
I didn’t ring ;)

I received an e-mail (from Auto re-activation Process Completed) saying they renewed this service for $399.99...Payment Method: ONLINE. I called the number because there was no other way to reach them. Needless to say they said I have had the service for 2 years and the agreement was to auto renew. I added that I NEVER had the service, never heard of them and if anything shows up on my checking or credit cards, I will go to the Attorney General. He asked me why? I understand there is a lot of scammers around, but we are not one of them. I told him, would you really admit it to me if you WERE a scammer? He hung up. Then called back again, but when I picked up the phone there wasn't any sound so I hung up. Later I was telling a colleague about it, so SHE called saying that this number was reported to the scammer hot line in Minnesota...then they hung up. She did this twice with the same response. They have been reported to the Better Business Bureau many times DO NOT FALL FOR THEM! There is plenty of evidence online about others experiences.

They claimed to have provided a service that recipient was unaware of and they claimed to have charged a ridiculous fee. Recipient was not addressed by name, but only as "customer". However name was at top of a fake invoice. Beware!

I received 2 identical emails with invoices for tech support services that I don't use. I didn't pay it or call because it is similar to a scam I got a couple weeks ago saying I purchased a laptop.

An email was found in my wife's SPAM folder while checking for another lost email message. Subject explained there would be an automatic deduction from account. We grew concerned. Before calling the number we checked for the company name "Geek Tech Solutions" and found several articles about tech support scams. None specifically mentioned that name.

We did not click or follow any links in the email.

As a check I called the number and asked them to look up my account. The server said it had to be done on-line. When I told him I would only handle this on the phone and that he should look up my account, he hung up.

We permanently deleted the email from the SPAM folder. (Gmail had identified it correctly apparently.)

Other information from the email:

This was an automatic renewal.

Product number GTS 24M-3424

Cost $399.99 for 2 years

Invoice number 001728255

I got an email saying that they were going to charge $399.00 for a subscription automatically; "we would like to inform you that your 'Geek Techs Solutions' membership ends on January 28, 2021, and will be renewed immediately on January 28, 2021 by EDO. After 48 hours, the balanceof the debit will be shown in your account." I call the number provided on the email and the person on the other line instructed me to get my computer and started giving me instructions on what keys to push. I argued wirh him and stopped the call.
