I needed to apply for an EIN number. I used what looked like a legitimate IRS webpage to apply for it. I have provided my name, SSN, address, phone and credit card on the website and was charged $245. The next day I found out that the legitimate government website service is not supposed to charge for EIN. I am now out $245, but more importantly, my personal info may be jeopardized.

DO NOT use IRS-EIN-TAX-ID.COM!!!! They charge for a service that's provided free by the government on the IRS.gov website. They push ads so they're on top of the Google search engines. They claim they can help with other services, but they don't, nor do they give a phone number - you can only communicate via email. I absolutely HATE people/services/scam artists that take advantage of people, especially during these times when people should be HELPING each other.
