Carlinus Group Reports & Reviews (6)

I experienced the same thing with this scam group. They overnighted a check to me for 4600.00 dollars and told me to deposit it and keep 300 of it as a hiring bonus and use to the rest to purchase my working materials. I pulled up the address on google earth and it took me to a trailer park in Florida that had a lake in it. I called USAA and told them about it. While on the phone with the bank, I was texting evan@carlinusgroup. The lady from the bank told me to tell them it would be a ten day hold on the check to see what their reaction would be. Evans got mad and told me to tell the bank that it was for Covid-19 related items. The bank said that when people use that excuse, the bank feels obligated to cash the check and make the funds available immediately. USAA knew it was a scam and even used google earth to see where the company was located. Now the Carlinus Group website is down and evans@carlinusgroup show up unknown in my google hangouts app.

I received an email from [email protected] and they overnighted a check for $5,748.54 for me to deposit to purchase “office materials through their trusted vendor”. I requested the vendor’s address and saw it was a house in a subdivision in virginia! They made an excuse it was an old address and mail is forwarded there, but I realized it was a scam so I called my bank right away, reported them, and cancelled the check.

It may have been a job I applied for on indeed, or the emails where "recruiters" get your info and make job offers. The email used is a weird one: Farok Mavour [[email protected]]. They told me to interview via Google Hangouts, which I thought was video, but turned out to be a messaging interview (text). They instantly hired me and told me to purchase "work from home equipment through a trusted vendor". They sent me a check to pay for it and told me to let them know when it is deposited and to send photos to confirm. Luckily, my bank (Navy Federal Credit Union) was able to spot it, as they have seen this scam before so they denied the deposit. I blocked the scammer.
