My identity was stolen, and American Express, which I rarely used, mailed out a new Debit card to an address in Florida, at which time the thieves changed my email, mailing address, passwords, and funneled over $4000 in installments of around $200 to a "sub-account" listed under a false name. I live in Illinois & was unable to get online to see any info on this account, the staff refused to speak with me, because I didn't know the email address that they changed it to, and they continued to keep stealing money from my connected personal bank account. They have repeatedly hung up on me when I was told I was going to be helped, forced me to write a paper mail complaint to their main headquarters, and absolutely refuse to give me my money back or even to acknowledge that any of this even occurred. I filed a complaint with the ScamPulse.com HQ in New York, as required because AE headquarters is located there. ScamPulse.com responded stating this was founded, but even though they FINALLY got a response from AE, have dropped the issue and I still haven't been compensated for the money that we direly need returned to our checking that they allowed to be stolen. During many of the phone calls with the customer service agents, they spoke broken English, and you could literally hear what sounded like a chicken farm in the background. Beware American Express, they may have been trustworthy in the past, but judging by their reviews, they are doing this to MANY customers.
